Hopefully four points in our next two home games under the new interim appointment of Peter Taylor. At the back is Harriman back from injury, will Barratt keep the armband and what of Legge. Davies has certainly got to start in my opinion. Up front who will Taylor go with out of Keds, Bayo, Cody, Dack...will he see the potential of Weston as a striker and Keds in midfield? What of Charlie Allen after his dad's departure...good luck to the lad. He hopes the side will be able to show attacking flair and only make minor changes...http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24573790? So many questions, which will surely be answered on Saturday when the new Chapter begins. Views and line up predictions please...
The team I'd like to see 3 - 1- 4 - 2 attacking 5 - 1 - 2 - 2 defending. ................................Nelson.............................. ....................Legge....Barrett....Davies...................... ..................................Linganzi................................ Lee..............Kedwell..........Dack............Martin ...........................Bayo....McDonald................ Probably be same old, same old.
We'll play 3-4-1-2 with the option of going to 442 when it cocks up. My guess for our team Rudd Clarke Huntington, Wright Humphries, Brownhill, Welsh, Laird Hume Beavon, Davies
I think Gillingham will line up as follows....................... --------------------------Nelson---------------------------------- Davies---------Legge----------------Barrett----------------Martin --------------------------Gregory--------------------------------- Lee-----------------------Hollands------------------------Whelpdale ----------------McDonald--------------Kedwell----------------------- Subs: Howard (GK), Allen, Dack, Linganzi, Weston, Akinfenwa, German After last week I hope we don't play Charlie Allen at right back and I personally don't think that Michael Harriman will be fit enough to play tomorrow so Callum Davies will move across to right back and Leon Legge will come back into the side to deal with the aerial threat from Kevin Davies, I don't see Peter Taylor doing too much to the team as he will be relying on as much information as possible from John Schofield and Carl Muggleton as possible and while he is at the club as interim manager I don't think Peter Taylor will try to change too much too quickly.
But don't forget Taylor has been at several of our games over the last few weeks,so I reckon he'll have first hand knowledge of how our players perform, and going on how his previous clubs say he likes to play now,I'll go for the following line-up ________________________________________Nelson___________________________________________________ Lee_____________________________Davies_________Legge________________Barrett______________________Martin Whelpdale______________________Gregory_________________________________Holland___________Dack __________________________________________Kedwell_________________________________________________ Harriman for Lee if he's fit and Lee taking Dacks place, and Keds dropping back to help out at the back when he can Taylor won't want to start with a defeat,so it will be a 0-0 bore
This will be a real tough game for us,just like MK Dons was with Preston being in the Playoffs. They had a surprise loss last week at home to Crewe, but I think they will be a tough side.Im hoping we can sneak the win as when a Team sacks their Manager that Team usually gets a result,I hope that is the case tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what Team Taylor picks tomorrow,I hope it will be an attacking Team. With us having two games at home in quick succession, then four points would be a decent return. With two games at home in a few days, hopefully we can get 4-6 points. Prediction: Gills 2-1 Preston
Bet brb isn't a happy bunny. Legge returns to CB and Davies returns to the bench. Queue youth over experience debate once again.........
Will someone explain to me how Gregory can describe himself as a professional footballer. Hollands was not much better. It is obvious as an Elephant sitting on your lap that he needs to go. Or was I not watching the most dire first half of football seen at Priestfield in living memory.
Yes. Bang on the nail my friend. The worst aspect of that game for me was not the overall performance or the fact that we lost to PNE. But that second goal of their's left me fuming. Quality maybe on their part but absolutely diabolical on ours. From a distance I saw it from my seating position but if Cody and our strikers could do the same I would be smiling but sadly instead it demonstrates everything that is wrong. As I say the defeat don't hurt me, I can accept that but where do I start, I could go on for ages... I've seen enough now and time for some straight talking. German was a breath of fresh air and Harriman was my outstanding MOM...Keds?...whoever made that selection is having a frigging laugh. Workhorse as always a good headed goal but when it comes down to it and ball on the ground he is not a natural striker and Cody's not at home. Weston on the right, who thought up that one it was not until he changed to the left that he actually for once showed what he could do...turned two to four men...AT LAST!!!! before the foul and our subsequent goal. However, why is he still not chasing down every ball. The Medway Stand were absolutely screaming at him that the ball was not out, crikey he's the player on the pitch don't wait for the decision, play it until you are stopped! Can someone tell me what the hell Greogory and Hollands actually did out there today, because it is at a loss to me...seriously I'm flaming well ranting. Why no Dack? YOUTH V EXPERIENCE...with seven minutes left we bring on Bayo, with PNE backs to the wall...BAYO YOU WHAT, young Dack would have tore them a part. Back to Keds and Weston...if Keds gives the ball to Weston on the right, then moves on to the right himself...who is in the middle as a striker...oh...Cody I hear you say...the invisible striker. I need a lay down...
brb, You forgot to mention Charlie Lee, whilst shooting from 30 or 40 yards is admirable, why, why, why didn't he slip it through to Weston when he had a run on goal and the speed to beat the CB.
lol I think you may have been watching the same game as me BRB . To be fair to weston when the ball rolled along the line it made a change for the ref not to rule it out. The prob is deffo central midfield . Gregory just sat in front of the back four fluffing his lines all afternoon. Lee needs to play in there. I think what is most frustrating is watching players that you know are good enough being forced to play out of position. A Donkey is a donkey etc
I run out of breath in my last comment...so had to take a breather...her indoors is just about to bring out the straight jacket so I might not be able to type for a while...lol
Well the dozen or so around me in the Medway Stand were unanimous in favouring Kedwell for MoM when we discussed it after 85 mins. The harsh reality is that North End were just a bit better all round and with Whelpdale and Macdonald squandering our two gilt edged chances, there was only going to be one outcome. I feel a bit sorry for Taylor because the game just illustrated that there is no magic solution whether it is selection or formation or motivation. The players are motivated, its probably the best starting eleven and they are organised best for their limited abilities. Unfortunately it needs half a dozen better skilled newcomers and MA blew the cash. Gregory and Hollands played to the limit of their ability. Enough said, no point in ridiculing. The problems originate from last January when a load of stupid decisions were made but people tended not to state the obvious because of the league position.
We saw last year in the cup against PNE, that we couldn't compete and Bristol is right we haven't invested well in the summer. Ironically, if you believe the rumour mill, the two more expensive signings in Bayo and Cody were Scally's and not Allen's choices so it is debatable on who actually blew the lion's share of the cash
Well today was the conclusion of the end of the Mad Dog era and the start of the PT era once again. It seemed strange to think it was 13 years ago that PT was last here leading us to that fantastic day at Wembley when victory took us to the promised land for the first time in our history. There were small signs of PT`S influence in the football today, we were trying to play a bit more football, Nelson was always looking to throw the ball out and the players were trying to pass the ball a lot more though it seemed a bit strange and awkward to some of them, a work in progress indeed. What was obvious was the lack of a creating attacking central midfield player who can play that killer pass and supply the strikers with some ammo, don`t blame Cody, hardly a decent through ball to him all game. Hopefully PT will see that and address it before Tuesdays game. Preston were a good side and K Davies was very strong though Legge played him very well and you can see why he was prefered to Davies today. Last time PT was here we lost his first game in charge to Bury 2-1 with the mighty Christian Lee up front so the omens are good though of course this time there is no Hessy, Asaba or Super Bob to drive us forward, over to you PT, I for one have a lot of faith in you! Cmon U Gills!
