    The North East is frequently referred to as a "hotbed" of football and together the two big rivals put out 90,000-odd fans for home games between them. But we've won bugger all since Adam were a lad and it is astonishing to think that since the 1973 FA Cup Final, the last time either team won something 'major', the following teams have won at least one trophy, sometimes several:

    Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Norwich, Ipswich, Oxford Utd, Luton Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester, Blackburn, Middlesborough, Birmingham, West Ham, Southampton, Leeds, Coventry, Wimbledon, Portsmouth, Derby, Aston Villa.

    Now the above list is not exhaustive as it does not include the usual suspects, like Man Utd, Liverpool, etc. It is a list of teams who are not, IMHO, were we are right now. So what's the point of this article?

    It's about time we ****ing won something!!!!!!!!!!!! Why not us? We have good teams and the big boys aren't always interested in putting out their first teams, so surely, SURELY it's time, just on the law of averages, that something happened up here. I mean, even the smogs have won something more recently than we have for crying out loud.

    All this lack of silver may be good character-building stuff, but it's about time we got lucky.......

    I agree! But the manager has to accept a cup run is beneficial! Bruce has never seen what a good cup run has done for SAFC. We have!
