The two contrasts in the state of the emotional mind, from the long lost days of the crazy gang from Wimbledon, to the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. If you were given the two choices of era, surely the latter with all its glitter and glamour of the universal stage would be the benefactor of your admiration, enjoying the delights of the beautiful game and the euphoria it creates. So let us look at those two contrasts, now Plough Lane was never a pretty sight but surely that cannot even compare to the slums of the favelaâs. But comparisons are a weird trait of the human mind in the 21st century. I give you as example, the psychological planted image of a rabid dog. I then give you Auntie. You know the one I mean, that great institution of an employer that gave a new meaning to calling someone Uncle Jimmy. Then take yourself the creation of a whiter than white football panel, that wouldnât pass the advertising standards authority scrutiny to promote a box of Daz. You then have yourself a complete mix enough for a social media meltdown, bigger than any facebook clinical trial of around 700,000 people could ever had recreated. From the tears of Gazza and a Vinney Jones nutcracker, football has entered a new dimension, where thirty cameras around a ground will measure every movement like a locus on James Rodriguezâs arm. Just add the twist of a lemon or is that lemmings and the Sepp Blatter control panel will intervene and you have yourself a four month ban. Yet as the Samba train strolls forward to the semi finals and a meet against the auld enemy, they will be minus their Neymar through a fractured vertebra described in the English media as a knee to the back. While in the Suarez incident media outlets described his actions as a horror attack. So a horror attack that left teeth marks but did not draw blood, unless you have a doctored picture, to a knee in the back that is serious in nature and can have life changing affects on someoneâs career. Suppression of dissent can be very destructive in nature quite laughable if you open your mind rather than conform to conformity of opinion, while looking beyond the usual mass hysteria and the phenomenon of transference. While others follow the facebook mood manipulation experiment, like seagulls following a trawler waiting to be thrown another sardine. Those days back visiting Plough Lane now, seem more attractive then you could have ever imagined. Thirty cameraâs later, goal line technology, all seater stadium, water breaks, fourth substitutes considered all on the back and aftermath of Qatar allegations of bribery and corruption, oh well I suppose there are some benefits to the modern day...we could always turn back to Wimbledon watching a Scotsman getting beat, scandalous!
At last hitting the news feeds in the UK, brazilian great Ronaldo has spoken out; Brazil great Ronaldo says the challenge that resulted in a fractured vertebra for Neymar and ruled him out of the rest of the World Cup was violent and intentional. Ronaldo, who shares the World Cup goal scoring record, told a news conference Saturday "I don't think it was a normal football play." Neymar was carried off the field in severe pain late in Brazil's 2-1 quarterfinal win over Colombia after being kneed in the back by Juan Camilo Zuniga. He was expected to be sidelined for four weeks. Ronaldo said the challenge was aggressive, adding "I think the injury was a very violent one." He says "we could see on television there was an intention by the Colombia player to actually cause some harm." http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/ronaldo-challenge-neymar-intentional-24436822
I guess you never saw a metaphor you didn't like. But it's all good and I see your point. I'd go for Plough Lane any day.
Agree with brb - football felt better then, maybe cos the players in your team were more a part of your community. Of course they were pros and moved around but money hadn't yet poisoned the game and killed the romance.
