If you asked me to describe the Gillingham performance today in one word it would be "meh", Ok that is not entirely fair but the performance wasn't as pleasing as the result. The day began with a mini not606 get together in the what seemed to be the smallest and hottest pub in Bradford, where the current form situation was discussed but no agreement was made to the cause of it or how to rectify it. Still we put that to one side and trundled down to the ground. Much of the pre match Bradford chat was around the upcoming cup final and whether or not they would be 100% focussed, well that didn't seem to be a problem as Bradford started the more brightly and at a pace that would make Usian Bolt worried. But for all their huff and puff Bradford only created two real chances, one header over the bar by Hanson (I think) and Nelson pulled off a good double save after pushing away a Jones shot from the edge of the area. That said it wasn't all one way, Gillingham had some possession but we were limited to a single long range shot. The omens weren't great for the second half. Fortunatley for the men in blue the second half was an improvement. Gillingham started pressing more and with a higher tempo establishing a foothold in the game, and the introduction of Weston showed Allen's intention of getting all three points. With Weston on the pitch we started to stretch the game more and got our rewards. Burton picked the ball up halfway inside the Bradford half and dinked the ball over the on rushing back four for Cody to cooly round the keeper and slot the ball home. Once we got our noses in front the result was never really in doubt, Bradford pushed and probed for an equaliser but only created one clear chance, another Hanson header where he really should have hit the target. Apart from that Bradford never really looked like scoring and Gillingham held out comfortably for the win. It was a workman like performance to get win number 10 on the road.
Robinson looked ok, nothing spectular. I didn't notice him really, which was a plus after Monday, but may not bode well for the future
