Hi guys, after seeing some of our squad play against Liverpool reserves i got to thinking about some of the players that could push for a place on the bench and those that look hungry for action.

Of course its very difficult to judge watching reserve team football but for me there were good performances from Cotteril and Beatie ,Lee lucas and Casy thomas also did well (casy did very well considering he was tried out of position at full back) .

I have to say that i feel Craig beatie could offer us something coming off the bench , maybe Buck wants to have plenty of pace to come on in the likes of Moore and Lita but i think Beatie could also offer something , he is a good option to run the channels and IMO thats something that maybe Lita and Moore would be less inclined to do.

Do you think Buck has his favourites ?

I cant help but think that if beatie was a buck signing then he would be sitting on the bench and not in the stands. Of course the manager is going to back what he has brought in over players he didnt bring but how many 606rs would swap Moore for beatie ?

All early days yet i know ,the season has bearly begun , but im just putting this up for debate .

Moore v Beatie IMO is a 50/50 choice but on work rate alone i would give beatie a place on the bench, ive also seen beatie clear balls off the line from set piece play and he does do the defensive side of the game very well .

Brenden hasnt put a foot wrong yet but the signing of Luke moore looks more iffy by the week, i think Luke has all the talent in the world, if he had the desire and hunger to go with it he would be a massive player for us,maybe this is what brenden is waiting for ??

Thoughts on these 2 players please :)

Beattie scored some crackers last year. On the whole I think he gives more than Moore (if you know what I mean).

But TBH I think neither are good enough for the PL, witness the difference it made last season when we got a "proper" striker in (f a b i o).

Beattie needs to build his confidence, a few games in the reserves and a few goals and he'll quickly improve imo. Then I'd like to see Brendan use him off the bench. Could become a really important player for us this season.

I hope Beattie gets nowhere near our first team! Championship player at the very best now, would be very embarrassing to roll him out for a Prem game, as for Moore, he's starting to look like a passenger at clubs, did we get both these two from the Baggies, been tucked up twice, by the looks of things......................

been tucked up 3 times more like dragon!! remember carl heggs !! moore has the ability to shine but he has not done it yet, beatie at least should be rewarded for hard work . im not talking about starting but on the bench i feel at the moment he may be more useful then luke moore :)

I think it's because given our financial restraints there's no guarantee that even if we had an extra million or so, we would be able to buy anyone better than what we have already. You look at the transfer fees these days, and it's ludicrous!

Also, we may not get the money back that we payed out for them. Neither played enough last season to warrant a decent price, and we can't afford to be losing money on players

Yea imo I would be going for Beattie. He has made more of an impact at the cluib than Moore has.
Would love for both of them to surprise me, but it seems Beattie is more out of favour than Moore. It's odd.
He does offer us something different.
Lita hasn't really had much of a chance either yet. And he cost a bomb!

Sorry I've not been on here in a while. just moved back up to London and dont have internet yet.

Welcome back Rhys :) Lita is a player that IMO will be better in and around the box as of yet he hasnt had enough time on the pitch and when he has he s been too deep to hurt the opposition . It is very early days and the new players will need time to fit into the system of play , the flip side to that is that Shane long has 2 in 3 for WBA !! maybe their systems are similar perhaps.

Routledge for Dobbie is another move by Brenden that seems to have mixed views , Dobbie looks like the kind of guy that has to play him self into form and im not sure he going to get enough game time to do that ,he has looked off the pace in the minutes he has played but again i guess its about settling into that level of football . Ive been quite happy with routledge so far , he has the pace and im sure he will only get better .

Beatie does score the odd screamer and thats what we lack at the moment ,i hope that if he keeps working then he will get a place on the bench but im under the impression that Rodgers is treating Luke moore a bit different to the rest , maybe he is a fragile character and needs to feel a part of things ??

Not convinced either are good enough. But feel at the moment Beattie looks the more likely to get us a goal and more likely to ut a shift in for us.

Moore probably has the better footwork, pace and vision but lacks the desire - at least on the face of it. Definitely a mental problem with him I'm afraid. I think he needs some sessions with a sports psychologist.

Beattie has the better eye for goal and seems the hungrier of the two. His goal v Ipswich last season is still my favourite goal for us last season.

However, like others, I'm not convinced either are truly Prem standard.
