With the mid-season hiatus just about over and the dawn of a new season only days away I suppose quite a few of you, like me will be filled with trepidation. What lies ahead for us. Will we push on from last year and attain a top seven place, or even better. The computer could have given us an easier start, that said I dont think any match in the Premier League could be termed easy. So come Saturday its Anfield and the mighty Liverpool, who having made one or two signings, could at long last mount a serious challenge to Man U. I just hope that should Jordan Henderson make his official debut against us, that he has a mare. We ourselves have been very active in the market having just about signed a whole new team. Im confident that the back four and mid-field will be up to the task, my only concern is up front, where we seem to be short of numbers. With Campbell still out until after the turn of the year, we can ill afford injuries to the likes of Gyan or Sess. That said we look to have a lot more goals from our mid-field than before. My prediction for Anfield 1-1 and carry some momentum into the derby game. Between now and then I hope SB has the players wrapped in cotton wool. KTF
After watching them on Saturday it just highlighted to me our need to solve the LW slot. Sess is outstanding but spent o much time on the LW because Colback was not doing it, not Colbacks fault, he is simply not a left winger. We really need that extra buy in this week then I will be one happy bunny.
We continue to dream every year, and who knows it could happen, even in my limited time left on this planet.
What we have done is strengthened our position of a mid table team. Havn't bought nowt flash, but added depth to the squad. How-ever if some of the recent rumours prove to be true, maybe we could push up a place or two.
after watching them on Saturday I would say in Brown,Larssen,Gardner and Vaughn we have improved the team, Brown was outstanding.
Did you watch them on Saturday syd, you haven't mentioned it haha. Totally agree we need something going down the left.
Syd, for me, when Vaughan came on the pitch he held the width and it balanced things more evenly. The lad just kept things ticking over with quality passes and Larrson deliveries are a different class. It was nice to see a cross not hit the first man every bloody time, his deliveries alone will get us 10 extra goals this season. Likewise, Brown was a massive talking point after the match for us. He can really pass some of his experience onto Bramble because Turner isn't good enough, too slow, can't turn and is a hump of hoof. What else really stood out for me was Wickham, he's a bloody size that boy. Has canny feet too. If he turns out to be half the player he looks I'll be really pleased with that buy. As for Gyan, he didn't look interested at all. Hope he's saving himself for Liverpool. I think we'll lose on Saturday 3 - 2. Hope we can get something but I can't see.
Brown & Sess were outstanding on Saturday, so surprised by the size of Brown and how good a player he looks Gyan on the other hand...
