    By my count we have just 20 players who are over 21, meaning we have FIVE spaces in our squad for potential new signings (even including 20yo Santon).

    The way I see it, with us losing a few senior players, we've freed up squad places for upcoming signings.

    Being realistic (taking into account who we have been linked to and which bids we have actually made), how would you fill this 5 man gap?

    Please, no 'Mike Ashley won't spend another penny', for the next few days you are in charge of the transfer kitty. :)


    Elliot - Charlton GK, look set to sign him as backup
    Pieters - He still seems to think we're signing him
    Maiga - Will probably hold his breath until he's wearing black and white
    (Macheda) - Don't really want him but looks like we're getting him on loan
    Benayoun? - I'd probably say get him on loan, when fit he's top quality but isn't getting games at Chelski, high wages are an issue
    (Situ) - Good CB prospect, he's been on trial
    Cisse - A wildcard, would be great if we got him but £13m is a lot!


    Smith is going to sit around doing **** all collecting his £60kpw and Perch won't be on big wages so I don't see MA in a hurry to shift him. Ranger should count his blessings that Blackpool want him and if we sign two strikers, Lovenkrands, as much as I like him, would be better off rejoining the Scottish/Danish league.

    How would you fill those 5 senior spaces? <ok>

    Not sure you would get them for 20 million but I'd roll with it for sure, I think you would have to forget 1

    I think we can see that with just a few more signings we can really be pushing hard for a top 8 finish and if Tottenham and Arsenal continue to struggle... who knows?
