It’s a individuals choice , Phillips wants to be a manager, and it’s a lower level to where he was coaching and assistant. If you wanted to be a manager at the level you have been assistant for 20 yrs, you would have been a manager by now.

Different expectations on him down there though. Far less pressure on the role at Bristol than Sunderland. I would see it as him cutting his teeth.
