Interesting fact. We've never lost a game when Mikel Arteta has started with the armband. Should we promote him now for the remainder of the season, and switch to Jack next year, or leave Verm as skipper?

It was such a huge mistake to make Vermaelen the captain in the first place, it should have been Arteta or Sagna after van Persie, and with Sagna's future in doubt, it pretty much leaves Arteta for it.

The club has a succession policy though, the deputy always replaces the captain who leaves. SO if Verm were to discover he has Barca DNA in the summer, Arteta would probably become captain, with JW as his deputy.

Vermaelen shouldn't be on the pitch on current form, let alone captain.

i don't think wilshere should become captain. in that creative role behind the striker he needs to focus on trying to get us goals, not marshalling the team around him.]

we need someone in the vieira mould to be captain. who takes no nonsense from the other team, is physically imposing, can lead the team, and is frankly a scary human being

Still annoyed at him for his actions in the last five minutes of that Bayern game. Hardly played the role of a captain, there. Also, for next season we need a need new DM anyway. So no point making him captain on a permanent basis.

Jenkinson should be our captain in future. Last year he had stupid floppy hair but now he looks mean with his shaved sides. That alone makes him captain material :)

In fact I've also noticed that Fabianski plays better now he doesn't have stupid floppy hair. Short back and sides makes you play better as it makes you look more like a psycho instead of a limpet. Look at Koscielny and Giroud... they both look well 'ard. Arteta needs to sort his slickly gelled (yet plastic looking) comb-over out and he would start playing better I'm sure.

Maybe it should be club policy that all players must have the same mean looking hair cut?

How about have no captain at all? I don't think any of Arsenals current players would make a good captain so have none.

I'd make Wilshere captain. It doesn't matter how old he is, he's the one player who takes the game by the scruff and tries to dictate the play. A born leader <ok>

Arteta's hair makes him look worryingly like a Lego man.
