http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...sene-Wenger-EU-law-NEX-Exchange-football-news ARSENE WENGER could be forced to make an announcement on his future imminently amid concerns his delay is breaking financial disclosure rules. EU law stipulates that companies must reveal any information to potential investors that makes a material difference to the future value of the company in order to limit the potential for insider trading. Although shares in parent company Arsenal Holdings plc are rarely traded, they are nevertheless listed on the NEX Exchange in London and subject to their regulations. NEX refused to reveal whether there had been any dialogue with the Arsenal board and were not willing to discuss the specific events concerned. However, a spokesman said: “NEX would not want to comment on the actions of Arsenal Holdings plc but I am sure they are aware there is a disclosure obligation within the full set of directives that are identical to the London Stock Exchange and set by EU law. It falls to Arsenal to ensure that they comply with them.” A spokesman for the Arsenal board said: “We fully understand our commitment to the exchange and will fall in line with whatever is required.” At the same time, it appears there is no rush to resolve the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez after Wenger admitted contract talks have been put on hold till the summer. His decision based around finances? Surely not... In other news, he apparently said the following: “I managed to always get the best out of the team and that's what I will do as long as I am at Arsenal Football Club." Really? two back to back hammerings from Bayern, dropping out of the PL title chase and CL in Feb, sitting in 5th and looking likely no CL next season? He's getting the best out of the team? Get the feck out of here.
That would be a bizarre (yet ironic) chain of events to force such an announcement. Large PLCs usually have to make quarterly reports, but the T+Cs of NEX may allow for longer reporting intervals (so in the letter of the law such a disclosure date could be months away from today depending when the company year start/end dates are) .
Wenger says Arsenal fans should get some perspective and remember what he has done for the club. FFS thats the past and you cannot live forever on those glories and that seems to be his problem. Its now and the future that is important to us and that is where he seems totally inept. Wenger still has his supporters but even they can surely see that the guy is too stubborn and has run out of ideas on what is required for success in todays game.
God knows. Is Wenger no longer being manager after some date some "exceptional" event that requires immediate reporting to investors, regardless of the normal reporting T+Cs of NEX companies ?? That someone has obviously thought about this avenue as a potential means of forcing public disclosure on the issue, is not a good sign is it.
It's these kind of comments that are enraging the fans. They are condescending, insulting and lacking in humility. He was great in the beginning but he cannot brush the past 13 years under the carpet.
If only every job was like that. Do something good once and then you can be allowed to be utterly inept... forever... while still being paid millions. It actually makes me so angry and sick to look at a picture of him nowadays. He's such an arrogant, bumbling buffoon. Possibly even beyond the buffoonery levels of McClaren and Hodgson when England managers. And the only person he has to blame for not being liked is himself. Utter moron.
That is the problem, people keep on thinking about his past achievements and still hail him as some genius, yet totally ignore all his failures and deficiencies. It's almost like they have whitewashed the last 13 years. But his smugness is really grating nowadays, like he's untouchable. I guess when the bar is set so low by the Board, it is easy to be smug like that.
Doesn't that cover nearly every CxO who was hired and then ran their new employers' MNC into the ground ??
Do you guys think that Wenger would have made his announcement earlier like after the WBA game if the result was more favourable? They are seemingly dragging this on. I mean our performances can't get any worse if he announced it now...or can they...
It looks like he's staying - in which case that won't help the situation at all no matter when he announces it. The fans who are protesting will only become that much more angry.
Why does it take something drastic for some to understand that they need to move on. Their spin machine has got them this far but no amount of spin will persuade the fans, other than the hardcore Wenger supporters, that we will be better off with the current regime. This is the problem of having such a safety first management that they are afraid of any form of change.
