Why not I don't see why you guys want Vermaelen TBH. I can see why you want a CB (or two) but I don't think Thomas is what you need. He'd be an improvement on what you have but you also be signing Arsenal's fourth choice CB and I thought you'd aspire to more than that.
To be honest, I don't rate Vermaelen, but considering the huge difference in salaries, I guess LVG knows better than me! Wenger is saying he's not for sale to United, but isn't that a repeat of RVP?
He has twelve months left on their contract too, just like RvP. however, Arsenal and Wenger are saying they've learnt from the RvP sale too.
As I said above, I don't think he is. He is like Agger for us; good on the ball, able to hit a long shot but as a better reputation for this than reality and is injury prone too, plus his actual defending is suspect. Would you like to sign Agger instead?
