Forget it’ – Antoine Griezmann reveals while he’ll never join Arsenal Arsene Wenger has missed out on some incredible players during his time at Arsenal, but Antoine Griezmann’s tale of a failed transfer to the Emirates will no doubt enrage Gunners supporters. The France international – who is continuously linked with Manchester United – opened up on how a move to the Premier League broke down back in 2013, with his former agent Eric Olhats in regular contact with Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi. Grimandi had told Olhats that Wenger was keen to sign him, and the Atletico Madrid forward – then of Real Sociedad – ‘put aside all other offers’ in order to keep the path clear for him to join the English giants. But Wenger missed his chance to land the Frenchman and Griezmann has ruled out a move to north London in the future. He wrote in his new autobiography: ‘I waited, I waited, and I kept waiting … when there was no news, Eric called Grimandi, who said that the manager was still interested in me [and] to keep waiting. ‘Finally a few hours before the market closed, he let us know Arsenal would not make a move. ‘I don’t like to be told something and for it not to happen. ‘So when Eric told me later that the London club were interested again I told him “Forget it, after the blow they gave us.”‘ Read more: http://metro.co.uk/2017/11/28/forge...-hell-never-join-arsenal-7116392/?ito=cbshare Twitter: https://twitter.com/MetroUK | Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MetroUK/
Not surprising at all. Too much goes through Wenger when the management should have him focus on footballing issues on the pitch only. Wenger should only identify the kind of players he wants, and the management sorting out the rest. He shouldn't get involved in our finances or what he deems as being "good value". I don't want another press conference on what he thinks a player should be worth or not. We've become a bloody Tesco's advert.
Its almost hilarious we got Sanogo instead of Griezmann. Its a good thing that Arsenal signed Minsilat and Raul Sanllehi to handle this business now. I think Koscielney may be the last relatively 'unknown' player we brought in and developed into a TOP class one. Whereas pre 2008-2009 Wenger was constantly unearthing these gems. Times have changed though. Players are now harder to sign/demand more money and get 'discovered' earlier.
