Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is still keen to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. Liverpool have rejected two offers from Arsenal for the 26-year-old, who wants to play Champions League football.

"We will completely respect what Liverpool wants to do," said Wenger. "We want to [sign the player] if it is feasible in an amicable way.

"I am a great believer you have to keep as much confidentiality as possible, which is quite difficult in the modern world. But we work very hard, not only on the case you name, but on other different cases."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on the Gunners signing players before the transfer deadline: "We are working very hard to strengthen our squad.

"I am confident. You look at many teams around us. Nothing has happened until now. This team with financial potential as well.

"At the moment the market hasn't moved a lot. Apart from Man City, nobody has done anything."

We usually conduct ourselves in a right manner which is good. He seems confused in the last 2 paragraphs. Nothing has happed apart from Man City? Really?

Well other than City, who has made a lot of movements in this transfer window?

This just backs up what i have been saying to all the panicking women on this board - We are working to get things done, the Suarez deal is not the only thing we are doing and we obviously intend to get some transfers done and have a few things lined up.

It is so obvious that we will be making signings that it shocks me how worried some people are. Look at how we have trimmed the squad down to its smallest size in years - the space has been made, the money is obviously there and its clear the club want to bring some new faces in.

Both Chelsea and Spurs have made some very good signings. If Liverpool get Costa then that would be another good signing. Not sure where you're getting nothing has happened. Only top clubs to have not bought anything are Man U and us.

I agree, the signs of us trimming down our squad should equate to signings. But it's getting late and we are still dragging our heels with Suarez. Remind me why I should be excited right now.

I found that comment comical, around half the teams in the PL have broken their transfer records this Summer. You have to question if he really believes what he is saying. I hope he doesn't because it just makes me more worried.

Pool isn't really around us and we all know what he means that City have been the MAIN spender. Just a minor point though good thing is he's working on transfers (hopefully they get done before the Villa game)

The question is whether other teams have been active over the transfer window, they clearly have. Spurs have been very active, almost as active as Man City. They are on their 4th signing I think.

United haven't brought anyone in yet. Chelsea have signed Schurrle who is a good signing but have they brought in anyone else? Is Schurrle the difference between 3rd/4th spot and a title? How about Tottenham? Chadli, Paulinho and looks like the soldado deal si wrapped up. Soldado is good, but as of yet i'm not overly worried about the other two. And Liverpool have hardly had an amazing transfer window, bringing in a couple of squad players who wouldn't make our bench.

So i can see why he would think the teams around us aren't being overly active - none of the big 5 other than City and spurs have made there main signings of this window. The other big clubs are all very much still in for the top quality players and will be hoping to get deals done.
