Listening to TalkSport on the way home from the office tonight, it was mentioned that the Arsenal board has made it clear to Dick that top 4 is a minimum requirement this season. Is that kind of pressure reasonable? Sure, I predicted that Arsenal is going to be witness to a flood of managerial appointments and sackings over the next decade, but I really did think that Emery would be given the first season to bed in.
I have to agree, Bluey. As much as it pains me to admit it, I can see Emery doing great things with this Arsenal side, if given the time. I think it's a stupid comment for the board to make, especially as Arsenal fans seem to be onside with what Dickey has done so far. Why go and throw an unnecessary spanner in the works?
They haven't put him on 'sack watch'. That's just HIAG wumming and ****ing it up. What our new Chief Exec said is that it should be a minimum requirement for Arsenal to be getting back into the champions league. This is right and proper that our board are saying this, as the last lot seemed content for us to coast as long as the cash was being generated.
You said we'd bomb this season, finish below wolves and Emery would be sacked at the end of the season.
He was challenged to put his bollocks on the line over it. But it's been well established on here that he doesn't have any.
I just wonder if the guy who mentioned it on Talksport is the same pissed up guy in the corner they usually go to for quotes like this.
Talksport don't have any quotes about Emery being on 'sack watch' or being told he has to get top 4 this season, they've just made that up. What Talksport do is suck gullible people like HIAG in, who then wet their knickers at this stuff. The original interview with Venkatesham and Sanllehi (Arsenal's new MD and head of football) was with the Independent, where they talked about a range of issues about how Arsenal can get back up to where they should be as a club. One of those was that as a minimum requirement, we should be playing Champions League football. The only thing they had to say about Emery in the interview was that they were amazed at his energy and enthusiasm for the club and impressed by his extraordinary work ethic.
With that stadium you need Champions League! Top 4 is a no-brainer! But there's 6 clubs with the same need so its a tough shout with you guys not having the same bottomless purse!
Yep top 4 is a must for our club. But as you say there are several others for whom that’s a must too. But with a couple of them who can throw limitless cash at maintaining their place.
This season, yes. But I'm talking about next season. Provided that your board don't sack him, of course.
Nothing in particular, just yet. It's more a general feeling about what will inevitably happen, yeah?
So you think I should admit to something that isn't actually happening, but is more a 'general feeling' about something you are predicting ? Your track record of predictions makes me very encouraged about Arsenal's prospects this season mate
So let's have some specifics on your predictions about Arsenal 'bombing' and 'bottling it' shall we HIAG ? You've already predicted that we'll finish below Wolves. So at what point of this season will we bomb ? What competition will we bottle and to whom ? When will Emery be sacked, before or at the end of this season ? No bottling this now HIAG
