People still seem to be missing the point. 99%, if not all of us want Mannone here next year, and £1m is a fair price, but we simply can't afford to take up (possibly) more than half our budget on an area that is easily solvable in the free transfer market. I say more than half of our budget - we might not even have one.
But there's the rub - it wont even be 50% of our budget. We have ZERO budget for fees so you have to adjust accordingly. You might as well say go for Tevez cos both are equally out of our budget range.
Whilst we're sort of on the subject, does anyone know when Barmby is supposed to meeting the Allams for talks? I know it's after the West Ham game but does anyone know anything a bit more precise?
There is no such thing as a free transfer these days though. Good players let their contracts wind down so they get a big signing on fee for themselves. So if you mean we will get someone in then just pay wages we will end up with another Adebola. We carry on like that and we will go down. Before anyone jumps down my throat no one is suggesting paying millions. But a 23 year old goalie with a 15 year or more career ahead of him has a future value, its the wrong type of costcutting to ignore his potential.
You don't waste all your budget on a keeper when there's people like Kirkland and De Vries kicking around. I think OLM said that the coaching staff think that Jakupovic is on par with Mannone. If so, it doesn't make sense to pay £1m for Mannone.
I don't understand your point at all there - Every player wants a signing on fee whether they're for free or for £1m, what difference does it make?
I think the point is that we have more pressing concerns in other areas - If we lose Brady, King, Simpson, McLean, Garcia.. we'll have next to no wingers/strikers.
A player is worth whatever a club are willing to pay for him and I'll be surprised if there isn't a club out there he think he's worth a £1m punt.
Next season might be the first year where we haven't had to use up two loan spots on keepers. It can only be a positive and it could allow Nick to bring in a couple of strikers & a couple of wingers in on loan. We might not need to spend money if we find the right players. Look what FC did for us in our promotion year, a similar impact to that and we'll be on to a winner.
You know because.....? Ah, you don't. Point being, we do also have players to sell, perhaps a way of adding funds to our budget of ZERO.
Exactly, all Kirkland would do is clutter up our treatment room. I would rather play fly keeper than have Kirkland anywhere near our goal.
Of course he doesn't, none of us know for sure, but if you appreciate what he's basing it on (The Allams' supposedly saying we won't have any money, Barmby making not-so-subtle reminders in the press) then you shouldn't need to be a complete arsehole about it.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ho...njured?&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari Google search Chris Kirkland and injuries, ****, it brings up tons! Injured at Doncaster, injured at Leicester, at Liverpool he was dubbed 'unluckiest player' with injuries. **** me, he needs avoiding like the plague. Bag of ****.
Yes, but incredibly believable and convincing hearsay, of which most of us accept is most likely to be true. I've never taken even the slightest issue with you before, but saying things like "You know because.....? Ah, you don't." is just, well.. surely self-explanatory.
why the **** arnt you questioning the budget of ZERO? ffs the facts are staring you in the face. complete idiots.feed them **** and the muppets will eat it.
