We now have 4 German's playing in our starting line up, who would have thought. Ze German's are taking over.....
Dang, previous to our 2 wins out of 2 vs Fulham, we hadn't beaten them in 4 games....Hopefully we give in a good performance, and not a complacent sloppy like performance as we did against Cardiff which almost backfired. We need to start fresh and quick, not expecting things to just happen for us. It's important with these runs of games we have (Fulham, Southampton, C. Palace) to ensure maximum points, because we got some tough fixtures coming up after this, so crucial to get all points, lest we drop any points in the big games, then it becomes somewhat takeable to drop points, but if you drop points in games you're supposed to win, and then in the big games, it has an obvious worst effect points wise. So far we have done a good job by beating W.Ham, Newcastle, Cardiff, and Villa, all games we ought to be winning, hopefully we keep it up in our next 3 games before playing Liverpool-United, though we really should be beating United.
Fulham have Hangeland back now and apparently he made a big difference against Norwich. Fulham are an ageing, slow side though so I think if we approach the game with a fast tempo we should be relatively comfortable. However, if we fanny about at a walking pace then I can see it being an uncomfortable game to watch. Think this is the sort of match where AOC can really shine.
Anyone remember our home game against Fulham last season? **** me, that was a horror show defensively. Crazy to think how much we have improved on that front now.
We were defensively all over the show at time last season, was this the game where we missed a last min pen as well ?
Thinking of it now, but it has been kind of a strange season for us, we're doing excellent so far, but attacking wise, we haven't really fired on all cylinders yet, we haven't been blowing teams away, or free scoring a lot. In fact we haven't scored more than 3 goals in a single game so far this season. Last season by this time we already had some really big freak results, scoring 7 past Newcastle and Reading, 5 against Reading in the league, 5 against West Ham etc.
i prefer it this way. i think wengers going for a compromise between attack and defence. before it was try and score more goals than the opposition. now its win the game. when we go 1 or 2-0 up we don't go all out to kill the game off, which is annoying, but we sit back, soak up the pressure and it's worked for us so far. still, when we play a **** team, it would be nice if we could just go and score as many goals as possible.
it will be a tight match today i believe as Fulham will defend with all the players behind the ball. if Arsenal can get an early goal it could make it much easier to score a lot of goals but i believe that Fulham will be hoping for a game like Arsenal had against Cardiff. The Fulham manager i saw say that Arsenal are good but they have no secrets.
Arsenal are unchanged, while Fulham youngster Dan Burn starts in defence. Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Wilshere, Cazorla, Gnabry, Ozil, Giroud Fulham XI: Stekelenburg; Riether, Burn, Hangeland, Richardson; Dejagah, Sidwell, Parker, Kacaniklic; Dempsey, Berbatov.
