First game in the Europa League tonight against opposition nobody has heard of. Leno starting his first game and Lichsteiner and Torreira come into the team. Starts for Welbeck, Iwobi and Holding at the back too. Arsenal 19Leno 12Lichtsteiner 16Holding 5Papastathopoulos 18Monreal 11Torreira 4Elneny 7Mkhitaryan 17Iwobi 23Welbeck 14Aubameyang
It will be interesting to see how well Leno distributes the ball out from the back with his feet, because Cech is ****ing useless at it. I still rate Cech as a keeper, but this is one area of his game where he is a liability, so tonight should show us a bit more about how Leno will fit into Emery's plans.
Aubamayang has run the show this half. Mkhi and Iwobi both playing well. Was a decent performance - they have to come out a little more now and I expect we will grab another 1-2 goals.
Was an average half up until the goal. Starting to get annoying until they scored. Looked much better since then. They haven't tested the defence at all.
1-0. HT. Quite frustrating, in all honesty. We didn't really get going until the 30th minute. Prior to that, our passing was very laboured and sideways. Players were just strolling around the pitch. You can tell they're expecting to cruise through this game. Vorskla haven't offered anything at all, they've just been defending deep and are clearly living in hope that it won't be a cricket score. If we continue to play like that in the second half, they won't have to worry about that! Mkhitaryan's looked threatening, but his first touch has been appalling at times and has gotten in the way of some potential goalscoring opportunities. Iwobi's looked lively. Hope we can kill it off in the second-half. All too comfortable and its been evident in our performance.
We got better as the half went on. Bit laboured for the first 30 mins. But we opened up once we got the goal, which was a lovely swift counter. Would like to see Torreira push a bit further forward as they are playing so deep, and I think he can be really effective pinging quick balls into the feet of Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan and Iwobi in and around the box. So far so good though <ok<
Nice goal. Taken total control of this game now. One thing I like about Emery is that he clearly makes tactical adjustments at half time. Our second half performances have been much better on average.
Not his biggest fan but credit where it's due, he's the nearest thing we have to a winger at the club so there is a big opportunity for him if he can take it.
Soo far under Emery he has looked very good. Maybe he will finally start to live up to his potential.
