This match is being played on Friday night so that if a team lose their fans will have the WHOLE weekend to fester and to hate the footballing Gods. At the end of last season Sanchez was nearly killed in this match but the forces of good endured Arsenal won via an own goal. Leicester have had a quiet close season which show that winning the title the previous season did not go to their heads. Vardy has remained true to his hard working, no nonsense roots as his tastefully decorated game's room shows. Arsenal have had a great pre season winning two trophies against near insurmountable odds. They lifted the Emirates Cup even though they had less points than another team. The mental strength that saw them overcome the Emirates Cup challenge was also evident when they became they first team in history to win the impossible double by beating Chelsea in the Community Shield. This has meant that Wenger has led Arsenal to a treble since May which has totally eclipsed the United treble of 1999. Those fans who hired planes with antì Wenger banners, chanted Wenger out, and slagged him off on websites and phone ins should be hanging their heads in shame. Transfer wise Leicester have had an ok transfer window although Mahrez wants to leave and Chelsea are looking at Drinkwater. Arsenal have had a great window bringing in some near world class players but their biggest achievement (according to treble winning mastermind Wenger) is that they have Sanchez (fully recovered from his near death experience), Ozil and Oxo-chamberlain in the perfect position of being able to leave for free next summer. Sheer genius! The most interesting pre match questions for this game are: a) How many empty seats will their be in this sell out game? Here is a picture of the sell out match v Sunderland last season: There were so many empty seats I thought it was a Man City match b) Will Sanchez, Ox and Ozil still be arsenal players when the full time whistle blows? c) How long will it take for Vardy to dive...I mean to be viciously hacked down? d) Who would win a staring contest between Ozil and Kasper Schmichael? Arsenal lost 4-3 to Liverpool in the 1st match last season and Leicester lost 3-1 to Hul so at least one of them will have a better start to this. My prediction...Vardy to make like a Uboat at every opportunity and arsenal fan Ty to be the biggest full kit ****er of the weekend. A mate of mine once drank a disgusting cocktail with an umbrella in it. When I asked him why he said he didn't like the look of the cocktail with the olive in it...with this in mind...C'MON LEICESTER!
I think I'll miss the game tonight Going to have to catch the highlights instead unless I can completely avoid seeing the score and watch the full thing online somewhere later tonight. Bloody Friday game... Lots of doubts for this game. Sanchez injured, Ozil, Ramsey and Kosc possibly not fit. Not sure if Mustafi is ready yet either. Might end up with: ----------Cech------- --Holding--Mert--Montreal Bellerin-------------Kolasinac/Oxo ---------Xhaka-----El Neny---- Welbeck----Lacazette----Iwobi Bench: Ospina, Kolasinac/oxo, ???, Walcott, Coquelin, Giroud, ???
I think Ozil will play. I think Mustafi might as well. I think Mertesacker will not do well against Leicester's pace. I think Kolasinac is a lock at LWB and I think it is more Oxo/Bellerin.
If we play a back three then is Holding, Monreal, Elneny one of the worst back threes ever seen? Or will Oxlade play LWB with both Monreal and Kolasinac playing CB with Holding? Different season, same story of seemingly half our first choice XI not being available in August. Still, I'm going 6-0
I'd go Holding at CB with Monreal and Kolasinac either side. Ox left and Bellerin Right. That's a very decent and mobile back 5 when we're defending. Although a bit left footed ...
....Holding - Monreal - Kolasinac.... .........Xhaka.............Elneny........... Bellerin.................................Oxo.. ..................Ozil.........Welbeck....... ....................Lacazette................. Happy with that
Amazing header from Lacazette. Already hating the defences lineup though- what is Wenger thinking? How many fullbacks on the pitch do we need? Why is he soo allergic to height at the back?
Literally cant get my head around our back three. Why not play the defence you intend to play in the Charity shield?
I would say hopefully this would show our management how much we need some quality centre mids as our current crop are all ****e. Never gonna happen though
Xhaka is meh. Gives the ball away time and again. His passing is supposed to be his main feature and it's ****.
