With an acute shortage of fullbacks, we might be tempted into the transfer market in January to sign some cover. Taye Taiwo is a potential, he is frustrated at a lack of games at AC Milan. He might find himself in a similar situation at Arsenal when Santos and Gibbs are back , but this could be a good loan move - and if he proves himself, it could be a very shrewd move to sign him permanently. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...ver-ac-milan-first-team-chances#ixzz1gRdLQwrg
We definitely need an LB this January, almost as much as we need another front man. There's plenty of LBs out there that are better than the dross we currently have, injured or fit.
Wenger has stated he wont sign any defenders. Personally I would like Vertoghen because he can play LB, CB and DM.
He sounds African by the sound of his name, so doesn that mean he'll be going to the African Cup of Nations? Wouldn't that be a big problem?
He has got potential, wouldn't mind having him on loan to cover Santos' absence. Santos will be missing for 3 months and then it will take time for him to be matchfit and get back into form. I don't trust Arsenal in this matter as it has often been the case that we are told that the player is going to miss a certain amount of time and end up taking much longer. With Taiwo we would be set until June and there would no pressure on Santos to be rushed back prematurely. Plus, there is no doubt that Taiwo is far better than Gibbs. Too bad that he has played in the CL and would be cup-tied.
By the time January comes around, we'll have both Gibbs and Jenkinson back. That should tide us over fine until Santos recovers.
