Naming Nasri & Fabregas in the Champions League Squad I see as a smart ploy by Arsene. He's forcing Barca & Man City to stump up the cash quickly or risk the players being cup tied. Wenger is prepared to keep them from the looks of it. This means August 31st is no longer the deadline, the deals must be done before the qualifier. Smart move Arsene. It forces their hand to make their move now rather than hoping for a cheaper option late on in the transfer window. Hopefully it'll all be tied up in the next week, and new bodies can be brought in!
Naming Cesc and Samir has little importance. Every player eligable was named in either the A list or B list, apart from Ryo Miyaichi who had yet to recieve his work permit. Bendtner, Almunia and Eboue were also named despite all looking likely to be on their way out of the club. Diaby was included even though it is almost certain he will not be fit for either leg. No player was excluded for Fabregas and Nasri to be included, no-one misses out. It would have made no sense to be able to name 25 and only name 23 and leave those 2 out. Don't read anything into them being named, it will have no effect on their futures.
