A good cross section of views and opinions about where our club are in 2011 and what we need to do to move forward. http://www.arsenaltrust.org/uploaded/astfullsurveyreport2011(1).pdf
and a statistical analysis summary for those who can't be bothered to read the whole thing....... http://www.arsenaltrust.org/uploaded/astsurveyexecsummreport2011(1).pdf
I skimmed through it but it seemed interesting reading. The bit at the end with the additional comments was pretty good.
A stand out comment from me is that some supporters would like to see our Billionaire owners make a one off cash investment into the squad.
Actually, that's another misinterpretation of what was actually said. The question was whether the board should reconsider it's confidence in Wenger if he doesn't win a trophy. The issue here is not whether Wenger should be sacked, but whether the confidence in him is down to lack of squad investment, due to either Wenger's decisions not to spend, or the board's decisions not to allow funds to be made available.
From what I can see of the report, there is a high level of dissatisfaction in respect of our performance. Over the two years of 2010 and 2011, there has been a significant change in the perception of our performance The end of season capitulation did undermine the entire season and Arsene's insistence of team spirit and mental strength ( yes I know he has to boost the morale of the players ) is questioned We so rarely now see the team playing as though they were playing for their lives and for each other. They did this in Udinese Pt 2 but that sadly seems such a rare occasion. Our team spirit seems to have gone and no one appears able to restore this. Some players like RvP, Theo and Super Jack Mk 1 have called for it but it does appear a little lacking throughout the squad It is also believed by an increasing number of members that Arsene may either be placing too much emphasis on his footballing philosophy than on the objective of winning trophies or at least that it is time to make changes to the approach. Again though Arsene's philosophy is perceived by the AST and us here to be lacking the required strategy to allow us to compete with the opposition and change would not appear to be forthcoming. It is difficult to see another manager staying with this approach but Arsene has and that should make us question his style. Few want to see Wenger sacked but many are beginning to ask if he should not bring in help and consider that in not doing so, he may ' be eating away at his legacy '. So there are two camps. One believing that Arsene has placed to much confidence in his own players and not received the performance in return and those who feel that his reputation as an innovative and distinguished manager is being eroded. If our performance continues to suffer and with no change of fortune in sight, whatever is the reason, Arsene's reputation could well come to grief and it will be a case of thanks for the memories. I think all true fans would wish to avoid that but it really is up to Arsene and/or the board. We also could do with money from Stan but if as it seems he may be mortgaged to the hilt so to speak, the only route would be for Mr U to be brought in. On Mr Usmanov's involvement with the club, the members of the AST had this to say. The table refers to the percentage of fans over the two years who believe AU should be represented on the board Well, I have some sympathy with the final statement. Stan though on the other hand appears to have gone to the limit to buy our shares and thus has no funds available to invest in the club itself. So his intent would seem to be for self gain while Mr U is believed to be a fan. What have we got to lose? As the second biggest shareholder, it seems strange he has not been invited to the board.
It's clear that there's a schism between Kronke and Usmanov. I also don't think it's tenable to have a majority shareholder not invited to be on the board. As much as Usmanov seems to have a sketchy past, he should still be entitled to a say in how the club is run.
