    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...t-in-Crystal-Palace-winger-Wilfried-Zaha.html

Jeremy Wilson is one of the more reliable journalist out there, and has shown in the past that he has a decent track record in these things. He reported our interest in Giroud long before anyone else for example. Interesting how Pat Rice has been sent to personally scout Zaha. I have to be honest, I have not seen this guy play that many times. Watched him play a few times in the Championship and in the League Cup. Walcott's situation has also been mentioned in the article. So, what do you guys think about us potentially spending £10 Mil plus on another young English player from the lower leagues?

No, if we sell Walcott we need to buy an established ready made winger, you don't want to have a squad with 2 wingers who are still young potentials, OXO and this guy if we sign him, you need proven established experianced players, just look at what Cazorla, and Arteta are bringing to this team, that's what you get when you buy experianced established players. We already have one excellent young winger in OXO, and another one in our reserves in Gnarby, not to mention Myachi who's currently on loan at Wigan, we're stocked with young potential future wingers to be, no need to add another one.

Agreed, also having watched Zaha (granted it's limited to just a few games) I saw nothing from his performance that blew me away. He was ok but nothing more.

I'm not so sure about this. If Theo goes, there's still Pod, Gerv, Oxo, Ryo, with Gnabry coming through, plus Afobe who, as a pacy forward, could be suited to the "Theo" role, and is at the age where he needs to either step up or be moved on.

I don't think another wide forward is required.

He's excellent but incredibly raw. It would be a shame if a big club bought him too soon unless he was loaned back as he's got the potential to be a really, really good player. A few tricks, pace, a decent enough cross and a reasonable eye for goal.

He looks plenty talented but £10mill plus is a lot. Obviously it's a gamble but whilst you don't really have any shortage of players that can play out wide, he'll either be wasting away in the under 21s or have to be farmed out on loan, in which case you really don't want to be paying an inflated value.

He might turn into something good, but right now he's a poor man's Walcott. Pace and trickery sure, but no end product and woeful finishing <ok>

Kind of reminds me of Victor Moses, i.e.
    - played for Crystal Palace
    - Shone there as a youngster
    - Pace, trickery and strength
    - Selfish
    - Terrible finishing, but the potential for some class goals
I don't want a Victor Moses type player at the club, especially at the money being quoted, we're not chelski FFS

I see we're back to normal now, obviously the board got bored of signing established stars, and want to go on another youth project. Hurrah.

On Zaha, he's promising, but if you thought Giroud's goal ratio was poor, it has nothing on this guy. I think i read it was 1 goal in 47 games. If he's to replace Theo, then we really have lowered our standards. I'd rather play Ramsey on the wing, or promote some youngsters, at least they don't cost 10 million.

The money is steep, but we have spent a lot of money on young English players from the lower leagues in the past. Just not sure if this guy is as talented as either Walcott or AOC.

we dont need more potential and promise .

Been there , done that ...seen the failure.

BUY SOME " PROVEN , NAILED ON , HIT THE GROUND RUNNING , CLASS " .

Stop wasting money on " maybe " players.

There needs to be a balance, even the biggest and best clubs still invest money in young talented players. What we did wrong in the last few years was the lack of balance.

Well actually I disagree. We DO need more young talent.

It's important the club keep up it's youth system bringing through and scouting youngsters is the key to continued success at the club.

This is all well and dandy but.......... other clubs seem to have a great system whereby they have ...wait for it .......... BOTH .

Buying of REAL class players . PLUS the developement of young potential .

As we are not exactly a poor club , why have we had to rely on these youngsters and virtual unknowns in an attempt to succeed.

ps i love your reference " continued success at the club ."

perhaps you can enlighten me of the aforementioned during the last 7 seasons.

we dont need one or the other.

    We need BOTH.

and we need to address the scouting situation .

Just who was it that thought Chamakh was just what we needed. ?

and Carlos Vela , 11 goals in 3 seasons .
    Not to mention

    Cracking signing .<doh>

    You're completely missing the point!

We havnt won anything in the last 7 Seasons NOT because we signed young players its because we keep selling our experienced ones.

Our youth system is what has kept us in the Champions League places over this period. Without it WE WOULD BE ****ED.

    wrong .

why did the experienced players WANT to leave. ?

Arsene didnt force them out of the door with a crowbar , they couldnt wait to leave.

    Coz we havent won anything.

Some of those "experienced " players we still not good enough to win anything.

    and they didnt .

you are suggesting that the chicken came before the egg.

the failure was cause by them leaving. ?

Those players were PART of the failure , then they left.

Fabregas , Nasri , Clichy , Adebayor were all part of the team that FAILED to win anything. we didnt start not winning things when they left .

We were not winning things when they were here .
