Arsenal are willing to ship-out with one of their highly-rated youngsters as they make plans to shore up their defence ahead of next season. Arsene Wenger is ready to act on his long-rumoured interest in Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill. He is considering offering youngster Ignasi Miquel on loan to sweeten the deal, reports the Daily Mail. The Gunners have highlighted England centre-back Cahill and Blackburn's Chris Samba as the men to add some bulk to their back-line. The influx of defenders could limit first-team opportunities for young Spanish defender Miquel, so a loan deal to Bolton could be the best solution for all parties. The 18-year-old is already the subject of interest from other Premier League teams. But Bolton boss Owen Coyle might have concerns about bringing in such an inexperienced player as a direct replacement for Cahill. In that case the Trotters will push Arsenal for a cash-only deal.
I think that story is Bollocks - Wenger will go for someone like Subotic, Mertesaker or Vertonghen who would cost significantly less.
I SECOND THAT... Wenger will make it his business to buy some mediocre..unproven in the top level, let alone the premier league - all because that person will be so much cheaper...wenger doesn't like parting with big amounts of money ah well another bargain or nothing at all spending spree..or non spending spree!
I think they meant as a loan deal. Would love Cahill to come to Arsenal but as Piskie said Subotic and Vertonghen would arguably costs less are are at least as good. (Subotic would be my first choice signing for Arsenal)
I cant see us getting Cahill tbh, Samba looks alot more realistic, but then again will Blackburn sell there 2 best CB's!?
Ignasi Miquel is nowhere near ready to go to a team like Bolton and fight for a place. When I read the title I assumed it would be Kyle Bartley, who could certainly push for a starting place (and of course has links with Bolton). That would make sense, but Ignasi Miquel? Cannot see Bolton going for that.
