EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal poach QPR scout QPR boss Harry Redknapp is losing his top talent spotter Ian Broomfield to Arsenal. Itâs a major coup for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as Broomfield has been a big influence on Redknappâs transfer plans over the years. At Spurs, Broomfield was the driving force behind the signings of Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen. Now under Rowley, Broomfield will concentrate on bringing similar top talent to the Emirates after he has served his notice period at Loftus Road.
Hate to state the obvious but if this fella is responsible for the current 'talent'..... I am sure it is more complicated than that.
Perhaps this is a clear indication that Harry is quitting very soon. As RTID states, if he's responsible for some of our signings he'll be no loss...
Don't know what's more surprising - that we had a scout or that Arsenal obviously impressed by our great record in the market think he's worth pinching
Unlike others here I'm amazed he's thinking if leaving - since Harry's idea of scouting appears to be 're-sign every player that has ever played for me' the bloke must have the cushiest job in football - if he goes to the Arse he might have to actually do something...
Maybe Broomfield is more frustrated with the clubs policy, and wants to be somewhere where his reports are looked at and decisions being made to bring in new talent! May be as much an indicator on how the club are working behind the scenes. Or not!
Strange. Possibly its H he has a problem with - there are three signings which have been obviously scouted in Harold's time - Yun, Donaldson and Dellatorre. None gets a look in, whereas the blokes H is familiar with through the telly and his old mates are fixtures. Mind you, if offered a job with Arsenal, who can blame Broomfield for taking it?
That was my thoughts too, if he's out of contract in the summer, maybe the others are and thats a sign of redknapp quitting and a complete new team coming in. It might be wishful thinking but it keeps me going!
