Quality comment. Found it more funny than depressing. I actually expect relegation this season. As I've said before, I think Ashley's game worked once with Cabaye and would only ever work once, plus I think both Ashley and Pardew have no self-awareness - I don't think they understand quite how unappealing they make NUFC. One from being a complete hermit, the other from being a complete helmet.

I don't think people want to play for Pardew. His own players didn't seem to want to, why would strangers. Our one and only appeal is to offer a platform, but so do Hull, Swansea, Southampton, Everton and so on, with the added bonus being they want to play good football and want to achieve something every season. I just think all attached to the club are clouded by finishing 5th, the owner seems intent on running things HIS way (and to hell with reason or other opinion).

I'll still be infuriated by every defeat taking us closer to the drop, but I'm prepared for it.

To be fair to Pardew, players do seem to enjoy playing for him (not HBA of course). Cabaye enjoyed his time so much he recommended us to his best buddy and is now doing the same with Cabella. Players view the club a certain way is the truth of the matter. A stepping stone or gateway to a better club. That is more to do with circumstance than any individual. Of course if Ashley was an adventurous ambitious owner willing to spend his own money he could influence that but otherwise we are what we are.

On the face of it, however much people hate Pardew or Ashley, they have got some high profile players to sign on here when compared with other clubs of a similar stature.

I do think though we may be underestimating the task ahead unless there is some serious investment. I expect little due to recent history.

Much as it saddens me I too believe Ca$hley is merely asset stripping ready for a sale (please let it be sooner than later ). Debuchy, in the current market is worth more than £12m, especially when you hear P45due saying he was quoted £14m for an "unproven " English player. FFS, Debuchy is being said to be the best right back in Europe and if playing for Chelsea would command a fee of at least £20.
I am also prepared for the sale of Krull, Tiote, Santon & Sissoko as we have ready made replacements in Dummett, Raylor, Bigi, Armstrong & Perez. I just can't see Ca$hley spending much, if anything, so Championship here we come.

Rapidly became my favourite player here, be gutted when he goes as I imagine this to be true. Not surprised though, seemed inevitable.

He's not asset stripping. He needs NUFC to be asset-rich, mate, because he needs to make around £240m from it IF he ever sells, which he won't at the moment. No, instead he's running it on the bare bones to survive in the Premier League, for marketing and advertising.

We have not replaced Llambias, Kinnear (he still had a position, no matter how much of a void he was), Donachie. It's unbelievable how little backing the manager gets, I am frankly amazed even a man of his moral standing puts up with it. I mean, we all want to stay in work, but Pardew could relatively easily get employed at quite a few PL clubs, plus it's not like he's on millions.

I suppose this is the one area where perhaps I feel sympathy for Pardew. Don't get me wrong, he's HUGELY limited, but for your boss not to provide coaches, let alone players, it must be pretty miserable. I cannot fathom why he's still here, unless he really does owe Ashley something. I know why Ashley doesn't sack him - he couldn't give a flying fck.

The players situation is the oddest one. I get the need to scout, that we can't just buy any player and we shouldn't bemoan the likes of Gomis not turning up. But I don't get the budget situation. Alan Pardew has been given the nod to decide on recruitment - as per Perez. He must be in a position to just say "I want him, him and him" then it's the board's job to get them. Not haggle and miss out, but get them. Sure, play an element of hardball, but do so and get the player. We don't seem to do that. We seem to let Pardew and Carr agree on a shortlist, then the board apply unrealistically low values before then fcking around too much and missing out.

Good luck to him. He can go to a club with some ambition.

In the current market Debuchy should be going for close to £30m imho. If Southampton can fleece Man Utd for £30m for Luke Shaw I would expect us to get a similar amount?

The Chronicle are saying we are 'demanding' £12m.
I'd say £15m would be more like it.
Hope he plays a blinder in the next WC game.

Not quite a like for like. Shaw is 18 yo and would be expected to improve, Debuchy is now at the peak of his powers (and also he's not English- always seems to add a ludicrous premium to players). Still should be demanding at least 12m though, if not more. If Debuchy isn't agitating for a move, quote Arsenal a '**** off' price and see if they go for it.

I'd be very disappointed if Debuchy went for only £12m. Full international, proven in the Premier League, we don't need to sell. The price goes up if an elite club wants a player as far as I'm concerned. Make us an offer we can't refuse. You'll remember Arsenal wanted to pay £10m for Cabaye....

Yeah true, but Cabaye was secretly angling for a move and Arsenal thought they'd be cheeky. Bell ends.

We paid £5m for Debuchy only 18 months ago. £15m would be a fantastic price for us, we have improved his game so he is better suited to the premier league, so tripling our investment would be lovely farking jubbly as far as the fat one is concerned. Hopefully he leaves our club very soon once he's got his cash.

Why does anyone think Cashley wants to sell?

    Free advertising.

Potentially millions globally watching games and seeing the S D branding of St James' Park

Potentially making a profit every year especially with limited buying and strict wage control and increased Sky money.

I can see Cashley keeping us and not selling. Also who would pay his price? He won't give us away and repayment of his "loan" won't affect the price, he will still want his pound of flesh.

Anyone care to give me any reasons why he would sell. I can't see any unless someone makes him an offer he can't refuse and not in the Godfather meaning either.

Wishful thinking to be honest mate. Maybe he'll eventually get bored of getting slated at every game....

Debuchy will be chased by Arsenal all summer, refuse to play for us at the start of the season, apologise, come back in the best form of his career then leave for Paris St Germain in January. You heard it here first...

On a different note Ross McCormack is off to Fulham for 10m!

How he's valued at that is beyond belief, unproven at Prem level and only a couple decent seasons in the championship. Have to laugh at the price of British players.

I'd say this means Debuchy is easily worth 15m minimum.

Bearing in mind Debuchy's playing in the World Cup for a team who are having a very good World Cup and McCormack has never played in the PL and is going to a Championship team then Debuchy's worth at least 25 million.
