We have Jack on his way back and Frimpong due back soon. Diaby may play again this season as well. Ive just said in another post, we have our usual injury crisis already this season and its CM thats affected.

Add them to the midfield we put out yesterday and it would be a fairly good strength squad. I never thought I would see the day when I said that we miss Diaby but that is exactly the case at the moment. im hoping and expect Jack coming back will be even better.

It does raise a few questions though.

    1. with a full strength midfield what is our first choice?
    2. Will Jack replace Arteta - dont forget he was bought last season to cover for Jacks long term injury?
    3. Will Diaby or even Frimpong be regarded as first choice for the defensive/holding role?
    4. How do the players fit together into a unit (for example I think Ramseys best role is soemthing between what Arteta and Cazorla are playing at the moment and he can be very good in that role with the right players around him, but he looked poor when played out of position). This is just as important as who are the best players imo, iuf they dont fit together they wint work together. .

    1) cazorla arteta wilsere
    2) Arteta's role in the team has now changed to the most defensive of the midfielf trio whilst jack is more of a box to box
    3) Think that will remain arteta
    4) Ramsey imo (and i know most will disagree) should be used in a more advanced position when santi is rested. Diaby to be rotated with wilshere and frimpong/coq with arteta imo

    No Jack wont replace Arteta.

Jack is more offensive. Its more likley it'll be between Jack and Diaby for a place next to Arteta and Carzorla.

    1. Cazorla, Arteta, Wilshere
    2. Jack will play alongside Arteta, Arteta is our most disciplined midfielder, so he'll stay in the defensive role.
    3. See above
    4. Play Jack alongside Mikel, and Santi in front of them. Ramsey's best role is cleaning the toilets in the North Bank Lower.

Yesterday, was Ramsey's FIRST bad game for us this season. He has done more good than bad this season.

To answer a few comments as I see it.

Wilshere was playing deep alongside Song before his injury so I think he will have a similar role with Arteta whichh will allow both the freedom to attack sometimes with the other covering. I know he was a more attacking player as a youth but had to compete with Fabregas for the attacking role so had to adapt and proved himself in that role.

I also think Ramsey has something to offer us and comments like Kyles when hes played out of position dont really help. Dont forget hes still young and has had a long spell out after a horror injury.

Ramsey was poor yesterday but I was more disappointed in Gervinho and Giriouds contribution.

Giroud - Holds the ball up terrifically well but seems to want an AGE to do anything with it. He needs to get used to the pace of this league. Except for his heading ability I cant see this guy winning games for us unless he makes some drastic improvements.

Gervinho - gets into more good positions than just about any other player in the league. He glides past defenders only to tamely shoot or cross. Talk about lack of composure! (In many ways he reminds me of Eboue in this.) His final ball is terrible as is his finishing.

We really need a TOP quality striker.

Llorente is currently being benched at Athletico for not signing a new contract. He may be simular in style to Giroud but ultimately he's just a better player who will score us more goals.

Once again Ramsey seems to be singled out as the main failure. He was no worse than anyone on saturday. The team in general seemed to lack energy, wit and desire. Cannot blame internationals as chelsea, Manu and man city were all affected by this and still got good results. This result (vs Norwich) will hopefully produce a swift kick up the backside and resert the team. We need two good results in the next two matches or the doom-mongers may well be proven right again this year. Wenger - time to earn your money again.

Ramsey was not to blame. Yes he was poor but thats his first bad performance this season and he was no worse than the rest of the team! He just needs to keep a little composure when we go behind, he seems to go completely hollywood the second we go behind.

As for Giroud - i thought he was one of our better players but clearly lacked any decent service. He had a couple of headers on target, was strong in the air and made a great little turn that would of seen him through on goal 1-on-1 with the keeper had the CB not brought him down (should of been a red not yellow). I really don't think he should be singled out as a poor performer at all and think the fans are already trying to get on his back.
