Welaverage? However could be just what they need and a new challenge out of the Manc bubble may do him good. £16m is a lot but it suits both sides IMO.
I think arsenal fans are fairly underwhelmed. Most don't really rate him with the odd person thinking he will do really well. From what I saw yesterday on twitter, Ssn and the bbc it seems a lot of utd fans where upset with him leaving, a sentiment echoed by several ex-Man U staff. So your lot obviously believe he has something to offer. Personally I don't see it but I'm willing to give him a chance as we need a striker and he's what we have.
Mixed feelings. Shame to get rid of home grown players, but his goals per game ratio were poor. But with Falcao arriving, maybe Danny realised his playing time would be even more reduced. Good luck to him in his new club, just hope he doesn't score against us.
thing is, I thought the player you lacked recently was a Welbeck. Someone that offers energy and movement up top for others to exploit the space he leaves. Di Maria could do that (if played on the wing) but I can't see RvP, Rooney or Falcao doing. Having said that, if all three are on the pitch then it doesn't matter as they'll core anyway.
It's a bit of an enigma Gerrez. He could be brilliant one game, then less than average next. But he never really showed any signs of improving. Shame, but sometimes club and player have to move on. And nearly every time you sell a player, he comes back to haunt you by scoring. Hope not in this case
Did anyone know Welbeck's dad was a bomb disposal expert? He served 10 years with the army. First name was Stan
I think Welbeck will be a very good player for Arsenal if they play him as a striker, his pace and movement will fit them nicely. I have no problem with Danny scoring against us and would even cheer him (as long as we win the game).
Welbeck as an out and out striker is mince. The excuses for his lack of goals being due to where he's been asked to play, don't stack up when you factor in his spell at Sunderland when he was playing as a striker and couldn't cut the mustard. He was shunted out wide due to both his pace and lack of finishing ability, he's never going to be a prolific striker. The Gooners are deluding themselves if they think Wenger is going to 'do an Henry' with him, lol.
Danny's nearly 24 and his finishing hasn't improved at all over the past few years. I don't think he'll ever be an out and out striker. He'll run himself into the ground for his team though which will put a lot of current and past Arsenal players to shame.
So he's turned out to be just the same for them as he was for us. Either he accepts that he's a squad/utility player for one of the bigger clubs or he can be a main striker at a "smaller" club. If he's prepared to live with the former then I'd have him back at United in a heartbeat and I suspect Arsenal would sell him for the £16m they paid for him.
