No matter what your opinion on Wenger, some of our players, the board etc. The simple fact is that we need to show some support for our players and manager if we want to finish in the top 4 this season. Fair enough if people want to criticise on here, but at the stadium I think fans should show their support and try to inspire confidence in the players.

The booing is undermining and does nothing but give the opposition an advantage.

Emirates should be a fortress, our home fans should be our 12th man, but sometimes it feels like it's used as an arena to belittle players and get on the manager's back.

Speak to any player and they will tell you that the crowd can give them a boost, equally they can sap the confidence away. It's up to us to decide, we can choose to give them confidence or we can choose to make their job even harder.

We've still got every chance of catching Chelsea and getting a top 4 spot this season. We still have a chance in the Champions League and in the FA cup too. So come on Gooners ! SHOW SOME SUPPORT !!!!!

Wow Piskie - Do you really think that this thread is not going to descend into the same arguments as a lot of the other threads have between those who support the club regardless and those who support the club but want Wenger / The board / the players out?

Anyway - I agree with you, So does Cym, HF etc.

    Hothead, Jayram, Robin, etc. don't.

Piskie - if they didn't want the fans to boo, they should've been man enough to let us speak at the AGM, not censor questions, not avoid answers and not cut the question and answer session short !

Piskie, i agree that we shouldn't boo the players especially when they are giving 100% Also the manager shouldn't be booed either. However, shouldn't the manager extend this to his fans also by listening to us and not wingeing and moaning at every available oppurtunity? Is nothing his fault?

This should really be closed before it turns in to yet another slanging match. After all is this article really going to change anything? As far as I can see goonercymsheepshagger is the only one who goes to matches every week and he seems to be more against the booing than anyone else here.

The words of our captain sum it up for me:

Fight for each other, not with each other <ok>

I agree 100 per cent , i will slag Wenger and his ridiculous decisions off till im black and blue HERE!

Booing the manager OR the players on the pitch is just a total waste of time and is stupid.

Once that whistle blows and a game is underway , the fans need to raise the roof and BE the 12th man .

    EVERY game. No matter what.

Never EVER Boo the team .

    I totally agree with this.

  10. I agree that at the stadium we should never jeer the team or any player within the team. Seen too much of that crazy silliness in my time at Highbury.

However in a forum and with a respectful approach, fans should be free to ask questions of both club and team. We all want the same thing even if we have different ways of saying or showing it.

That's the whole point. Fine to question the club, manager, players, board et al but never acceptable to boo your own at the ground. I personally hate AA and groaned when he came on at the weekend, but I didn't and will not boo him or anyone else.

I have been a fan for a few years <whistle> and in that time i have never booed a single player and i've seen some dros in an Arsenal shirt. In the same way i would never boo a player when he's wearing a Welsh shirt.I never booed that prick Robbie Savage and i would never boo Gareth Bale now

    Magic Man and everyone else.

Its all well and good saying it is fine to question the club, board, manager etc, but they are not given the chance. The AGM was that chance and the opportunity was removed. The AST were not happy and neither were other loyal Arsenal fans.

You lot can't have it both ways <ok>

Apart from the fact that questions had to be pre-submitted only for the first time (which is not unusual at AGMs) would you care to elaborate on how the opportunity was removed?

I agree in principle with your article but some slack should also be cut for the fans too, we are understandably frustrated and have the right to vent. We have been airing our view on this forum for a few days now and I think it's now time to draw a line under Sunday's game and look to the future. We have a lot of important players coming back and have got most of our toughest fixtures out of the way so I expect a strong run in from the team. We shouldn't boo every single time something doesn't go right for us but I do think that Sunday was a special case. We shouldn't dwell on it and we should approach the next game with optimism and fresh enthusiasm for our team, COYG!!!!!!

We can all have our qualms with the board or the manager but one of the biggest problems we face is our lack of support whenever things get tough.

I think during the late 90' early 2000's we picked up too many 'glory hunters' and now that things are not going so well it has affecting our home support (that and the influx of corporate ticket holders). The Emirates could be such an intimidating atmosphere but our support just isnt pulling its weight.

We need to make the Emirates a fortess and we should all show the 'fight' we expect from our players.

The following is all taken from the BBC website regarding the Arsenal AGM 2011:

"I've been coming for 30 years and that was probably the worst AGM I've ever attended. The club often talks about respect but there was a complete lack of respect shown today. It was awful." Stanley Salter, a long-term shareholder and Highbury veteran

For the first time in anybody's memory, all questions from the floor had to be pre-submitted and there was no chance to ask follow-ups

Twelve times Hill-Wood was asked to explain and/or justify club policy and 12 times he left the crowd wanting more. More energy, more hope, more passion.

If questions are pre selected and follow up questions not permitted and direct questions are not answered I think that is proof enough that the board knew they were going to get a hiding from fans. It may not be unusual at AGMs but it is at Arsenal's AGM. If you prevent people from asking questions the opportunity to question the board/club/manager is removed. If you cherry pick questions the opportunity is removed.

I wouldn't disagree that Hill-Wood leaves a lot to be desired, both in terms of man management (the Dein affair) and his conservative philosophy. But the AGM is a different thing from booing the manager and players when they are trying to win a game.

I think we as fans sometimes are entitled to show our frustration instead of following the benevolent manager like blind sheep.. I don't agree with the booing of a player normally but, sometimes we have to let the manager know we are dissatisfied and to avoid complacency setting in it's neccessary to vent frustration.

Constructive critism is also always welcome and I am still behind the team all the way.
