Benfica up to sixth ahead of Arsenal. Seems fair, 'Fica are a legendary European Cup-winning club.

With Porto, Valencia and Athletico progressing in Europe, it looks like Arsenal won't be seeded in next year's CL groups.

    Sorry but he's right!!

The rankings are still active and Athletico and Valencia are still in Europe and could overtake Arsenal if they progress further!

The seeding for next years CL will depend on the Uefa rankings at the end of the season. However if Arsenal are 9th they will proaably still be in the top8 seeds as Utd are unlikely to be in next years CL.

Sorry but he's not. More points are awarded for cl group qualification and progression to the knockout rounds than are awarded for europey league success. So whilst athletics may go ahead of us I don't see how either of Valencia or Porto can overtake us. (Though I haven't done the maths).

Well do the bloody maths (or just some research) then, in instead of posting bollox.

    YOUR WRONG

Arsenal cannot score any more points (apart from a fraction of a point for the country portion they may get if Chelsea or Utd improve our country co-ef)

Valencia will receive match points for wins and draws and a point for every round they progress from now. They can definitely overtake Arsenal.

EDIT: Check the 2012 co-ef's and see how high Atletico Madrid were, based solely on winning that years Europa League (they wern't in the CL in 2012)

I haven't said arsenal can score anymore points. But 9 points are awarded for getting into the group and then through it. That isn't taking into account any points for draws or wins during that time.

Afaik the points awarded for progression are nowhere near this for the europa league? So whilst Valencia and protagonist can both get more points this season I don't see how they can get enough to overtake us.

Your also totally failing to take InTo accounts that it's the last 5 years that are taken into account and so a small difference one year is unlikely to make a large difference to the overall ranking.

No i'm not as unlike you I know what i'm talking about. The ranking table I posted for 2013/14 does take that into account. Look at it again.

Valencia are only 3.15 points behind arsenal in that table.

They will receive 2 or 1 match points for a win or draw.
They will receive 1 bonus point for reaching the SF and another for reaching the Final.
Also Spains Country co-ef for 2013/14 is climbing faster than Englands

I'll say it again. They can overtake Arsenal

God your stupid. An average taken over 5 years gives us e current coefficients you posted. Congratulations. That far your correct. But a win doesn't add 2 points to this. That isn't how averages work. Idiot. This years coefficient will be taken into account instead of the year 5 years ago. And an average then taken.

Whilst I've already admitted I. Haven't done the maths to figure out just how difficult it would be for Valencia to overtake us, you are just talking bollocks. You claim to know what your talking about and then fail hard at simple maths.

Jesus you call me stupid but then admit you haven't done the maths. Who's the f**king idiot???

Its not the average!! it all 5 years added together. Look at that bloody table again:

    09/10 10/11 11/12 12/13 13/14 ranking

    7 Arsenal Eng 25.5856 22.6714 22.0500 21.2856 21.2142 112.806
    8 Atlético Madrid Esp 24.5856 9.6428 34.1714 13.5428 28.7142 110.656
    9 Valencia Esp 19.5856 21.6428 25.1714 22.5428 20.7142 109.656

The figures in bold are the current european rankings!!!

Right then, here we go. Valencia need 3.15 points to overtake you and ive already pointed how they can get them. They get the points (not some average of them) They can get a maximum of another 12 points with 5 wins plus whatever they get for their country portion.

Once again, they can overtake arsenal

Why do you continue to argue over something you obviously don't understand??

I'd read it as averages in the article I had read, quite happy to retract that if that is indeed not the case as you point out. :)

My previous point still stands just about though unless utd win the cl this season arsenal will be seeded.
