Arsenal have finalised the signing of Olivier Giroud from Montpellier for a reported £12m. I know we tried to get this guy before we landed Cisse.

The end for RVP at Arsenal? Or a new look forward line, with Giroud & Podolski? If the latter, backed up by the likes of Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arteta, Willshire, etc, then they will look tasty next season. Just need to bolster their defence (including defensive midfield).

Hands off Colo & Tiote please Mr Wenger.

Not fussed. We looked at Giroud because we thought Cisse was unobtainable. Decent signing for them but would rather have Cisse.

The only note of caution i would sound for Arsenal fans is, the last time Podolski went to a bigger club(Bayern Munich) he never set the heather on fire. He was big fish in small pond at Cologne. I think Giroud could need a season to settle in to the Premiership. I think De Jong is far more exciting prospect, although he will need time to adjust if we do get him.

Certainly looks that way but they won't be relying on him as much this year anyhow with Podloski and Giroud signing.

Good signing this lad and 12m is reasonable in todays market. I can't see RVP staying because the links with Barca seem a little too strong for me.

I think he saw the Barcelona model and looked at your own, saw so few differences in application (buy young, quick, skillful players and bring them through together, rarely splashing the occasional cash to fill in the gabs around the core team members) and decided that it would HAVE to work eventually...

RVP's injuries, the sale of Fabregas and the big money flops in Chamakh, Arshavin and Gervinho (although he could still come good) haven't helped at all!

Don't think we'll be as hot on your heals this season!
