Story in gossip section of the BBC. I I never heard of this guy but after a Google or 3, I found he looks like a tough tackling DM, 6ft2 tall with a decent array of passing. Not technically as gifted as M'Vila but looks to be defensively very strong. Hmmmmm .......
Why be happy with this? We have the money so should be going out there and buying some decent buys. Who the F is this guy. M'Villa was easily in our range and wanted to come to us, but for some reason according to the Telegraph, isn't being sanctioned? This stinks bigtime!
This is the problem, we are too accepting of the situation. We have M'Villa in our hands, like we had Mata and Verto, but we penny pinched and let them go. We are a big club now and more than capable of buying players like M'Villa. We should not be content with second best anymore. We were promised of marquee signings after the new stadium was built. All im seeing is budget buys and loanees. The only person i've seen so far is Podolski, and it's debatable whether he's a replacement of RVP!
Our club is fast becoming a joke - with our season ticket prices now so high that our cheapest ticket costs more than Man Utd most expensive. All that and we are looking for cheap alternatives!
He has clearly stated that he wants to come to a team which has a french manager in the Premiership. You can't get more french than Arsene. He's not the only player that has clearly shown intent on wanting to come to Arsenal and play under Wenger. It's the penny pinching that has stopped us from getting these players and improving as a team.
This, we have missed on several players because of penny pinching for example 2 million extra could have got us Mata but this was clearly too much for us so he has gone to Chelsea and has done very well. I fear the same will happen to Vertonghen who I think is better than Per. If we miss out on M'Villa over a few million then something really needs to be done, the ticket prices are getting ridicules and how are we supposed to convince the likes of RVP to stay when we are clearly show a lack of ambition to really strengthen our team.
Im still screwing at not getting Mata. He is a magnificant player and would have been immense for us. We also wouldn't have missed Wilshere so much and desperate for his return....
Did we ever have M'Vila? People assumed it was all in the bag but we all know what ballbags agents spout in order to increase demand. I'd love to sign him and all signs I've seen suggest it will happen but as I've been stung so many times before I'll wait until it happens before I celebrate. My thoughts on Capoue. Beyond him being the cats pyjamas in football manager I don't know much but he sounds like he'd be a very useful acquisition. My intial thought was maybe we'd professed an interest in order to speed up the M'Vila deal. ie "Listen mate, we'd like you but you're not the only gifted DM in the world. If you mess us around we'll have to look elsewhere" I think he'd like to come to us but his agent is looking to get as much money as is possible. It's a gamble to do this. Course I could be talking absolute bollocks. As could the papers... meh. Yet again... the Mata deal failed because we couldn't offer enough wages apparently, not because of our offer to sign him. Our wage structure is what's f*cked us time and time again.
To be honest I actually think defensively Capoue looks BETTER than M'Vila, so if this turns out to be true .. this could be a very good signing for us, after all, what we need is a defensive brick wall and Capue looks to be just that. A French Vincent Kompany
Both sound like they could flourish in the EPL but let's not let realism get in the way of a good rant eh?! I'm loving how indignant we all are about not signing M'Vila, despite the fact he's not gone anywhere else and that we've no god given right to him.
Wouldn't be too happy to miss out on M'Vila, Capoue would be a decent back up plan though. I think City's new tactics in the transfermarket is just to look at which players we are interested in and hijack the move/inflate the price...can't be a coincidence anymore that they keep sniffing around players we have been tracking for months/years. So they could get those players on the 'cheap', instead of buying them for a lot more from us after 3 years. Just seen the stats of Capoue: Scored 3 and set up another 5 goals, whereas M'Vila only scored 2 and hasn't set up any. Quite surprised, always thought of Capoue as a more defensive player like Mikel at Chelsea.
It's not about Capoue being good, which i'm sure he is as we have a good eye for talent. But it's about us missing out on our targets. We are a bigger club with more financial muscle now. We should be getting these players now!
That was my point, we've not missed out on him - assuming we are in fact going for him. He's not signed for anybody so he could still end up being an Arsenal player. Has Wenger come out and said he's interested? Don't recall seeing it anywhere but with me that doesn't mean much.. I'll be as angry as the next man if it turns out we were trying to get him but failed due to penny pinching/dithering but until I know that for a fact I'll assume it's 95% media trash talk.
Let's hope that it is media trash and we get our target. It would give us fans more hope that the club is going out there with proper intent!
Capoue is the back-up if we don't manage to get M'vila... don't believe everything you read in the telegraph and daily mail. At least this is the way I see it. Still confident of getting M'vila.
Are you misinformed or just bad at mathematics? He cost Chelsea £2m more than we were paying in transfer fee...and another £6m in wages (they're paying him £30k more a week than we offered) So your £2m is actually, over a 4 year contract, £8m.
I think is one of the things people forget when they claim that money is used as an excuse for us not being able to compete with City and Chelsea. We allegedly offered Nasri £90k per week, which would have made him one of, if not the highest paid at Arsenal, but City trumped it with a £160k per week offer. When it comes to signing players, City and Chelsea undoubtedly have the edge, anyone who claims otherwise is simply deluding themselves to the reality of the transfer market.
When are these FIFA fair play rules coming into affect?! More importantly, will it actually help us battle these mega rich clubs?
Could it be that City (and Chavs) are playing a clever game in the transfer? Arsenal are linked with a player, a story goes round that City are interested in the same player, so Arsenal sign an alternative leaving City to pay out less than anticipated because Arsenal have declined to go head to head.
You guys are taking an article from the BBC Gossip section and turning it into a bigger deal than it is
