Reports in some of the less reliable papers suggest Wenger is after Downing. Some reports suggesting £10m is involved. I assume we would have to pay Arsenal the £10m to take him! For once I hope the press are correct but based on their past record of LFC players supposedly moving on I am not getting my hopes up.
I had a bit of a chuckle when I read that, too. If Arsenal want Stewie, and are willing to give us upwards of £10m as well, then I say bring it on. So long as we don't 'do a Carroll', and leave ourselves without another wing signing, I don't mind.
Straight swap for Walcott...? This is about the only solution that would leave me feeling happy about signing Walcott
Can't see that being true - Downing is 27 and English. If he was 18 and French then maybe the story would have more legs.
I can kind of see this being true. PL clubs need a certain amount of home grown players which Arsenal lack. They also lack experience and a big budget. A swap with Walcott would do very nicely for me. Or Downing plus cash for Wilshere.
Really hope this is true, would be .....ing made up.I normally say be patient with players but with Downing and Cole for that matter i would be happy to see the back of them
