Readers of Fever Pitch, and maybe others who recall the 1989 season, will remember that Arsenal lost at home to Derby on the title run in. Nick Hornby was ready to throw himself under a train and the result led to the fact that Arsenal had to go to Liverpool for the last game of the season needing to win by two clear goals (when Liverpool were reigning champs and had just won the FA Cup). As we all know they did. But of course at the time no-one gave them a prayer. The point I am labouring to make is that we must keep our despair in check if/when a bad result comes into view. Of course some of us might say we've had our blip, but personally I'm ready for this season to have as many twists as an Ian Rankin novel. However, I do believe we'll be dancing and cavorting on April 28. COYR
Nice sentiment Channon, but no replies just shows it fell on deaf ears. If we draw or lose and fall into 2nd or 3rd place before 28th april, then the NegHeads will be out in force. Brilliant book/film by the way. Perhaps we should write one and include the characters on here in the book. What you doing next week, sure we can knock it out in a couple of days!
Enjoyed the book as well. I'm sure we will earn promotion this year, but I would hope that even if we don't, fans will recognise this as a great season where the team did well. (Haven't high hopes of the latter!).
