Is it just me or was this win not talked about as much last year because of the 5-1 and 4-4?

What an absolutely incredible result and perfomance it was. Unbelievably good. To win at the Emirates is one thing, but to win as comfortably as we did is another. Possibly Tiote's best game in a Toon shirt as well.

Just seems to be forgetten about in a season of classic games.

    I hadn't forgotten it.

I mentioned it to a Gooner friend on Saturday.

He's sworn revenge for the defeat and the come back.

The defence was absolutely solid that game, Krul had an absolute blinder too!

Like you say, we had so many great games last year that we forget about a few of them. It was a great performance to be fair

Arsenal's defence was gash though, totally outmuscled but I won't take owt from how well the lads played. Was a good game.

I remember that game... watched it in a rileys with my flatmate who was a passionate arsenal supporter.. he gloated before the game about tearing us appart.. he too then said they would have revenge on us... it came about and he had a bit of a dig at half time... did it too soon though, haha...

That was the one time last season where I thought Hughton's tactics were absolutely perfect! He named a 442 with our usual line-up, but then whenever we lost the ball, Shola dropped back alongside Tiote so that Tiote could man-mark Fabregas. It was absolutely genius as Wenger could never has expected it! Shola got very little credit for his defensive work in that game and I don't think many people realised just how deep he was playing; but he, just like the other 10 on the pitch, was absolutely outstanding.

    For once.

Brilliant game tactically by Hughton and Simpson's best game for us, that was the one that nearly got him in the England squad.

    Oh really?

It really was a good result though. Probably the biggest upset of our season I reckon, including beating Liverpool at home.

Yes. We beat Arsenal that day, and not because of luck, because of a brilliant performance by our whole team.

Who scored the goal? Barton and Nolan especially were brilliant in that game as was Jose and he's as good as gone.

And who stopped L'Arse from scoring? The whole team, yes including Nolan (and Carroll to a certain extent) who have both gone but also Krul, Colo, Williamson, Simpson, Jose (who's still a NUFC player as I type this), Tiote, Jonas, Barton (also still a NUFC player as I type this), Shola.... I wouldn't go as far as insulting the rest of the team by saying that Carroll and Nolan won us that game tbh.... Just my opinion tho obviously

Hughton had a great day that day tactically. He still had a bit to learn as a manager (mainly about being positive when behind a la Fergie), but it was this kind of tactical awareness that got us where we ended up last year. Clever bloke. Think he may have taken on another poisoned chalice though in Birmingham!

Hard to pick players out because it was your typical team performance, but Cheick was ridiculous.

I can still remember Kruls save from that Nasri shot.

Tactically brilliant that day. Played narrow and sat back which you'd expect Arsenal to dominate us and create chance after chance but with their terrible wingers and short strikers it worked perfectly. Fabregas didn't even look worth £10m that day because of Tiote

Remember coming out of the Emirates feeling as if I was walking on air. Great day, great feeling.
