This headline, particularly the use of the word 'early', pisses me off: Early Champions League exit could cost Man Utd £20m It's as if they have a divine right to be in the knockout stages of the Champions League and it's an affront that they're not there. I say **** them and the hubris they rode in on.
Well it's obvious getting knocked out of the Champions League will lose us money so what the **** are you moaning about? We've reached 3 finals in 4 years so to go out in the group stage is an early exit. It's also the earliest we could have gone out you pillock.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15853955.stm I love the way SAF laughs and walks away from the reporter who dared to suggest that Man Utd & Man City are "struggling in Europe" It's not quite so funny now, is it?
Every year the 4 English teams go through to the knockout stages, even Tottenham on their first attempt. These Manchester teams have not only let down the north, they have let down the whole of England and indeed all Germanic peoples.
Let me explain for the hard of thinking. As I stated in the OP, my problem is with the word 'early' so your first point is irrelevant. No one's disputing it. The word 'early' implies 'premature' or 'earlier than they should have'. Why is it earlier than they should have? Who is saying that United shouldn't be going out at this stage other than arrogant English journalists?
Because they have reached 3 finals in the past 4 years. Because they were favourites to win the group. Because this is the 1st time since 2005 that they have failed to get past the group stage. Because this is the earliest stage any team can be knocked out. Ofcourse it's an early exit you fool.
Because they've done well in the past doesn't give them any right to progress this year. You could reasonably call it 'earlier than expected' or 'earlier than hoped for', but to call it simply 'early' reeks of arrogance and a sense of entitlement.
You're searching for something that isn't there and getting annoyed over nothing. How you can think that one of Europe's biggest clubs going out in the first round isn't an early exit I don't know.
At what stage would Rangers have to go out to make it 'early'? As soon as wee Ally digs his passport out?
I used to build spaceships out of Lego when I were a lad. I didny go anywhere in them. Except in the mind. Only in the mind.
