Ramsey wouldn't be a natural fit in Wagner's tactics, which use a second striker, Sargent or Idah, in a free role behind Pukki. Ramsey never looked very comfortable playing out wide.
Agreed, Ramsey didn't look comfortable playing out wide. Neither did Dowell or Sargent, but they were the ones who were shunted out there to accommodate Smith's favourite. For which I don't blame Ramsey, I blame Smith.
Well, I don't know if this is true because I'm not on Twitter, but I read somewhere that Tzolis liked a tweet about Smith being sacked. Let's face it, the boy doesn't owe Smith any favours.
I doubt Arsenal would have sent us their Brazilian winger if he was supposed to play Smithball. With those 2 we have some serious pace now
Was there ever even a Smithball? "What shall we do this week, lads? I've brought my Tarot cards with me."
Wigan Athletic are showing a late interest in signing Norwich City midfielder Danel Sinani, according to reports. With the clock ticking towards Tuesday's 11pm deadline, the Sun's transfer expert Alan Nixon is reporting that the struggling Lactics are lining up a move for Sinani as they continue to battle Championship relegation. The report states that Norwich and Wigan have entered talks on a loan deal that would see Sinani move to Lancashire until the end of the season.
Tom Dickson-Peters has joined League Two side Grimsby Town in a late Deadline Day loan move. https://www.pinkun.com/news/23290413.norwich-city-tom-dickson-peters-joins-grimsby-loan/
Sinani loaned to Wigan, that's probably the end of his Norwich career. More room in the squad for Tzolis at least?
Not the warmest of welcomes from Hanley - unlike McGovern who jumps up out of his chair like the headmaster just walked in. What a gent! Also am i hearing Webber right in this clip saying Hanley likes to be called "Sir" ??
Yes, and let's hope there's no pre-agreement. For me, Pukki's body language when he was questioned about next season suggested that he had made up his mind to leave (just my impression). I also got the feeling he hated playing under Smith (again just my impression). Let's hope we play well, ideally go up through the play-offs, and he gets his enthusiasm back and wants to stay. Same for Max in different circumstances, but he's looked rejuvenated in the last two games.
From BBC Gossip page: Manchester City are planning a move for Leicester City's 26-year-old England midfielder James Maddison in the summer.
According to the Athletic, we gained over £2m in the fees and wages saved for Cantwell and Hugill, and a bit more on Ramsay's and Sinani's wages and any loan fees, though there will be the wages for Tzolis and Marquinhos and any loan fee for the latter. More importantly, perhaps, Wagner now has the players he wanted and a slimmed down squad suited to his tactics.
Sinani was most likely one of our lowest paid players, so I doubt we'd be paying some of his wages. If we were, it'd be better to keep him to cover for injuries then let him leave as a free agent.
Not sure if The Athletic article has been updated, but it now has the transfer income from Cantwell+Hugill at £1m? Michael Bailey clarifies it may have been a few £100k higher in the comments, but not significantly. Also it looks like Wigan paid a loan fee, and we're still paying Sinani's wages, so only a small amount off the wage bill there in effect.
I was combining the fees and the wages saved DH, but it was all rough figures. According to Capology, Hugill was on £28,846, Cantwell was on £25,000 and Ramsey was on £11,943.
