Chelsea have appointed Graham Potter as their new manager following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel. Potter has left fellow Premier League club Brighton to take up the role and has signed a five-year deal with the Blues. Brighton Under-21 coach Andrew Crofts has taken over as Brighton's interim head coach.
I think it's just a turn of phrase. He's not involved in negotiations so whilst he probably knows roughly where Webber stands, and will have sanctioned Rashica's departure, it's safer to sound a little unaware of specifics than to definitively say yes/no and create the impression he's out of the loop. Most likely there won't be a sale agreement, especially with the rumoured €3.5m fee Galatasaray offered, but if they come back with a €12m offer contingent on Rashica scoring 10 goals, Webber might well accept it.
I think DS prefers to emphasise the role of SW in these matters. Rashica must have expressed a desire to leave because he didn't want to play in the Championship. He did the same when Werder Bremen were relegated. Sargent instead said he was happy to stay at Bremen and only moved to us when the club approved it. Again Josh has responded very differently to relegation and the club is better for it. If Rashica does return, I will never feel quite the same about him as our player.
Weird loaning out £20m worth of wingers but at least we won't be paying their wages. Both Tzolis and Rashica are young enough to thrive on loan and get integrated back in next Summer . Neither are likely to to make the loans permanent, hopefully there's a fee also
Michael Bailey reported the club receives about £1.3m for the Rashica deal, which I think is mainly just his wages. (£1.3m would be £25k p/w over 52 weeks, presumably Rashica is on slightly more money, but the loan isn't a full 12 months). It might give us a bit of flexibility for January if changes to the squad are necessary, but I think the hope is that Rashica impresses enough for a permanent move, or at least to be reintegrated back into a Premier League NCFC team. At least Smith has shown with Canwell, Onel and Hugill that there's a clear path back to the first team.
Odd one this. Clearly he's not come back this season with the same hunger and performances but I really thought he might make a massive difference in the Championship. In fact I half-wondered if we might lose him to a PL club in the off season. Not to be. I hope he rips it up in Turkey and comes back to us with Hernandez-like commitment (... Or a fat profit!)
Hertha Berlin assistant coach Mark Fotheringham has emerged as the odds-on favourite for the vacant managerial role at Huddersfield Town. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...assistant-coach-becomes-new-favourite-3856061
Can't remember exactly what it was, but didn't he get the hump once when subbed and throw the armband at somebody and flounce off down the tunnel? Whatever it was, it didn't endear him to the fans! Edit from 'flown from the nest' Following a disagreement with manager Bryan Gunn when substituted during Norwich's defeat to Coventry on 28th February 2009, Fotherington was linked with a loan move to Preston. He also had the captaincy removed from him. He did not play again for Norwich.
Signed at the same time as Lappin, I think, but to much greater fanfare? He had his signature "Fozzy Flick" apparently, which I don't think we ever saw: Lappin turned out to be much the more astute signing!
Was it Mark Fotheringham or Wes Foderingham that was known as Mr Sideways? Never passed the ball forward
Middlesbrough have sacked manager Chris Wilder, with the club 22nd in the Championship. Boro have won only two of their 11 league games this season, with Wilder's last game being a 1-0 defeat at bottom club Coventry City on Saturday. Wilder had only been in charge for 11 months after replacing Neil Warnock. Goalkeeping coach Leo Percovich has been placed in temporary charge, along with coaches Craig Liddle, Lee Cattermole and Mark Tinkler.
Boro were a dark horse for auto promotion for a lot of people and "experts". Plenty of excitement when they secured Wilder too. You never know do you.
