Our need isn't immediate though now that Byram is fit, so SW has time to sort out some cover, preferably a FB who can also play at DM and/or CB.
I admit I didn’t watch all of it, but I think he gets targeted and when we are opened up on the break in the last couple of games it has been on his side when he gets caught turning the wrong way. That’s not blaming him, because he’s an excellent right back and I think despite his injuries he has served us so well, and agree he’s doing a decent job in a makeshift role. I just mean it is still a weakness and it will be interesting to see how we do against the likes of Burnley, Watford and Sheffield U
I think that's reporting what we paid for him. We do have a duty to the player! There is more chance of his asset value being protected if he makes appearances for a top tier side than languishing unused in Norwich. There's an unconfirmed suggestion that Galatasary will pay his wages, which gets them off our wage bill if true.
Sorry. Still doesn't make any sense to me. The player's duty to the club is a more important factor to me. This suggests we've once again signed the wrong player, or at least one with the wrong temperament. Presumably his expectation is that he can walk back into the side next season if we get promoted.
I view this as him going out on loan to a high profile team that will play in Europe, one at which he can excel, which will hopefully either lead to either them signing him or another club signing him for more than we paid. They’ve just signed Icardi to play up front too. I was really excited when we signed him because he had looked good when I’d seen him play in the Bundesliga and it was a name that I knew of, sadly as it happens with some players, perhaps the Premier League isn’t for him. He never looked great last year, he was just the only player that was able to carry the ball but he either ran into a blond alley or had no end product. This season he just doesn’t look up to the physicality of the league
Yeah I agree. Better have the salary off the books and the potential for an overall uplift in value, plus a happier player, than his value eroding far faster while miserable and not playing.
I think that's a very optimistic view of it, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm less hopeful that it'll turn out well. I think he's more likely to leave for next to nothing like RvW.
Galatasaray officially confirming that they're in talks for Rashica. Odd way of going about things. Sounds like they tried to sign him on a permanent deal for €3.5m, which was rejected, and now it's a loan deal.
Given Rashica hasn't made the bench lately, despite a clear role in the team for a winger offering width, a loan probably makes sense. An injury to Onel probably leaves us a little light for wingers, but I don't know how far off Rowe is. Once Giannoulis returns in a few weeks, at least there'll be the option for a LB to provide width with the midfielder playing narrower.
Google translate should bring a smile: "Official negotiations have started with the football player and her club, Norwich City Football Club, regarding the temporary transfer of professional football player Milot Rashica to our club." The EDP take on it: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...ot-rashica-galatasaray-transfer-talks-9259982
DS on Rashica in the Presser: Q: Permanent option for Rashica? DS: “Not as far as I’m aware. It’s just a loan. It’s like Tzolis, it’s an opportunity.”
That's an odd thing to say. How could he not be "aware" if a player been never come back to the team?
