In the summer of 2017, we were also just at the start. Two summers later, the players who had bought into "the project" were EPL players!
I'm simply suggesting that what we the fans are told to set expectations may differ to what's pitched to key players. If not, and we really do need perhaps 3 years to turn this average team into promotion contenders again then I would expect players like Rowe to be actively listening to other offers.
If I were Norwich though i would say you were injured half of last season, give us another and we will see where we are
Riddersholm didn't pooh-pooh the idea of promotion this season or next; can't remember his exact words, but something like "promotion this season would be fantastic, next season it would be great, the season after it would be expected". I don't think it's simply about being promotion contenders; it's about being EPL-ready with a real chance of survival, which were weren't in any of our last three attempts. I don't doubt for a minute there's a difference between what's pitched to us on the one hand, and to players on the other. Whatever the pitch to the players, it's persuaded Cordoba and Chrisene to commit to us, and Doyle to come in on loan. But if e.g. Rowe and Idah aren't interested in being part of it, they will go -- on our terms.
Squad numbers are out, with no number for Aboh, Montoia or Tomkinson. So presumably that trio are likely to get loans. Squad depth chart, focusing on primary positions. GK: Gunn, Long, Barden RB: Stacey, Fisher CB: Hanley, Duffy, Cordoba, Hills, Warner LB: Doyle, Chrisene CM: Sorensen, McLean, Nunez, Gibbs LW: Sainz, Hernandez, RW: Fassnacht, Rowe ST: Sargent, Barnes, Idah, Kamara Very thin in CM, 1-2 additions needed surely? Also wouldn't say no to a wide midfielder who can fit a progressive passing/ball retention style, rather than an "attack the full back and cross/shoot" style.
Forson Amankwah of RB Salzburg. 21 year old CM is said to be heading for medical according to the PinkUn
Noah Narty, from Bromby, has reportedly signed for £750,000. Right foot midfielder. Nineteen in October. Said to be the new Pogba. I hope without the attitude problems.
If that highlights tape is anything to go by, Amankwah looks a perfect fit for the new style, maybe even more so than Gabby
What I liked from it is the fact he never had to stop to assess what to do. It was all instinctive, the sign of quality. Without going overboard we MAY have acquired a gem.
This is bad for my blood pressure. (Young, but already has four starts for Brondby in the Danish Superliga.) [Edit] Where did you see that reported GE? Can't find anything on it at all.
On the pink in site. Apparently Chris Reeve has said a four year deal and I doubt he said say that if not true. Edit:- it seems CR was talking about Amankwah, not Narty So looks a false rumour.
https://x.com/samhardyncfc/status/1821523167682187369 Good thread analysing his playing style. Comes to the same conclusion that he may not be as complete a player as Sara, and his passing may be a little below where we'd like, but probably a better player for the system than Sara.
He would be some player if he could consistently make instant one touch passes of high accuracy! He looks to be someone who naturally plays at the sort of tempo JHT wants.
