I remember the BFT, what was the name of that one you had to do every two years, with full kit for about 8 miles?

We had to do that twice a year, the CFT. 8 miles (6 of which was X Country) 35lb Bergen and personal weapon in 1hr 40mins.

    Never failed it.

It was no fun in summertime I can tell ye. One of the major problems you faced was blisters on your back with the chafing of the Bergen, I consider myself fortunate that I never had a problem with that, lots of other people did though.

That's the chappie! I only remember doing it once in about 3 years. I was a bandsman so they let us get away with just using a webbing belt with a couple of pouches. I put a drink in one and some pies in the other. Then, when we got to Magilligan ranges, we had some lunch out of mess tins, which was a novel experience.

That's one way of doing it I suppose. We also had an RFT (Regimental Fitness Test) 2 Miles in 18 minutes in boots and denims. That was a bastard.

Indeed, the SLR weighed 9.5 lbs and the SMG only weighed 6lbs.

I used to go a walk in the morning on an empty stomach with a rucksack with two 10Kg dumbbells in it, when I was cutting bodyfat. That's more than 35lbs.

    Easy

    I'm soooo strong.

No prizes for guessing which one we had. I did a Browning 9mm test at Magilligan too, where you had to fire at one of those grim faced targets, drop to the ground and fire at it again. Accidentally I slipped as I was going down and blew a nice hole in the the dirt track road, instead of one into Ivan.
