Arise Sir Steve the Bruce

    Football fans in the North East reacted with unbridled joy with the news that Steve the Bruce is to be inducted in to the Newcastle United Hall of Fame, for his contribution to NUFC.

    In the award citation, the Bruce is praised for the "single minded determination shown in wasting copious amount of the owner's resources, yet still managing to leave the team worse off than when he arrived".

    He also lauded for "going the extra mile" in persevering to remain in a deprived area for a long period of time, even when the natives had become restless, and members of his own family had deserted him, for a better life, in Birmingham!

    His excellent "Mrs Doubtfire" disguise also came in for special mention.
