So this is a bit of a d-day fixture - the squad need to get a few wins over the christmas period, otherwise I feel we could be truly f**@@d and in real danger of dropping into non league. Missing berry at right back which is a blow as he has been pretty sturdy this season in my opinion, but with nelson having experience at that position and Lowry coming as a rightback/midfielder we have a couple of options in that regard. Also the forward line is going to be helping to categorize fletch's game plan after claiming chadders was being chosen due to his defensive ability. I (and i imagine many others) have been dumbfounded as to his decision to pretty much omit madjo from the squad given his brilliant physical ability and (dare i say it) ability in front of goal. Young is back in contention today along with purse, whose professionalism cannot seriously be questioned (i think that may be debatable with some fans), but it seems it is too early for Wotts unfortunately whose presence has been missed. So squad today? My hope instead of prediction... Cole Bhas, Purse, Blanch, Nelse C. Hall, Lowry, Mols, Gurr, Madjo, Griff subs. Gilmartin, Richards, Lennox, Hourihane, Harvey, Feeney, Chadders
where is the Oracle oops sorry plymborn when you need him. Still on his way back from HP.??? Bloody well done on 3 points and as a Stokie I know, it doesn't. matter where and HOW they come by.
Well well, 17 shots and 6 on target much improved in 2nd half then....nice to see Chadders get a goal, maybe will gee him up a little more. Quite happy with that....well done lads! One down three to go then....
cracking! only difference between that and the last 5 ive watched is a stone defence. If only we could have more clean sheets our league position would be the opposite to now...
What can I say after all my doom and gloom lately but they proved me wrong today with a pretty half decent display. To be fair though they have actually played better than this and lost so I forgive myself for the doom as in my opinion it is justified. First half was a fairly decent affair from Argyle who deserved to go in one up. Not any standout performances for me but a complete and utter team effort everywhere on the park. York were an ok side but I have seen better and worse this season from visiting teams. Their away record is one loss all season so far which is now two so they must do something right away. Second half and sat there waiting for the inevitable Argyle cave-in. It didn't come and I would say that the first this season for a total 90 minute display rather than two completely different halves was today. We matched them and bettered them for much of it and it was refreshing to see. Then came the Chadwick introduction. Oh dear......the groan was audible throughout the City. Me included although it was more silent disbelief and head held in hand. He bleedin scores don't he. Typical. Overall the performance today was good and this was as said across the park. The defence in particular was solid and I must say I was impressed with them all and wonder if this isn't the best 4 despite Berry's season so far. Midfield was competetive. Can't say it was good up front because we only played one. However, Griffiths wasn't bad either.
I was disgusted to hear the reception for chadders - he hasn't exactly set games on fire but I've seen worse players this season. Glad for him that he didn't do a Steve Maclean and gesture towards the fans, though he had a right to.
Two away games and two local derbies in the next three matches. A pity as this win is long overdue but the upcoming fixtures aren't ideal to build momentum. Of course, the glass-half-full argument is that if we beat Exeter and Torquay, the fans will be cock-a-hoop although in real terms, it will only be the same 6 points as from any other two games. The downside if we lose to both is horrendous though. Chadwick was booed onto the pitch yesterday I believe. That's the way to motivate players isn't it?
I have been out of circulation since teatime yesterday.....three grandchildren slept over and only went home 1030 this morning.....they were all awake at 0430 this morning so We are knackered. Like Gat said mixed feelings about the result........how do you predict a result like that.....we only two home wins in the league and York only one away defeat. The stats state that we won easily....so a great three points.....but only one win in ten games......do we have to wait another ten for it to happen again. This takes some pressure off Fletcher's position.....I don't really feel it will change anything......he won't suddenly become a winner.
I think any form will go out the window for the upcoming derbies Distant so we have a chance to do well in both games I believe as long as the defence keeps their cool and play with more than one up front.
At least we will not be subjected to a penalty shoot out like that of last year when we missed all our penalties against Exeter in that cup draw.
The booing in my view was more about the decision to bring him on rather than aimed at the player himself although in fairness it probably didn't look like that to him. Never mind inspiring him, what about him inspiring the paying public for once. He scored so it sort of shut people up anyway. Sods law isn't it but lets pretend he responded in "the only way he could" using a footballing cliche. I think that Chadwick is being made a bit of a scapegoat for some of the rest that is wrong at Argyle. I've seen worse but he hardly inspires confidence does he. The alternative was Feeney who is more or less the same. We have to play all 23 others in the league so what matter in which order they come. We are either going to win games or not. Madjo wasn't even on the bench. If we are going to sign anyone in January I hope to god it's Moseley in preference to any of the others we have on loan currently. I don't want MacDonald who in my book flatters to deceive more often than not.
Football fans aren't supposed to be merely "paying customers": they're supposed to be more than that. Those that boo their own side on a systematic basis aren't fit to be called fans. Whilst booing may satisfy some customers own self importance, it's the players who win or lose games. Anyone in the game will say that strong support lifts players to better performances and that a poor atmosphere does the opposite, so draw your own conclusion whether these people are helping or hindering.
Yea Yea whatever notdistant. They pay and are entitled to express a view. "not fans" well at least they turn up to be able to boo which is more than can be said for some who still express a view.
We the Fu ck are we Distant if we are not paying Customers.. its not free! Well only to the suits in the boxes who go for fu ck all. I get offered those tickets wek in week out,, but to be honest can't be arsed and i would rather sit in the crowd, instead of being with a load of stuck up pricks who think the world owes them. They know nothing about the game and all they want is the free nosh and beer. Typical suited freaks.. got nothing but a suit to show for it?
