Right lyndhurst, there's the title so now just fill in the blanks. A hattrick, a sending off, the double being done and more extra time in both halves to complete a 5 a side game in. You could be some time. Happy bunny at this one even now without the detail.

It's a bit premature as it's half time in the other games but there are mostly scores going the right way for Argyle. I'm still not going to start thinking about any promotions as there is still a long way to go. Sheridan must be in for a shout at Manager of the Month for February and there in lies the beginnings of the kiss of death.

Well that lyndhurst is a big let down BC. I mean it's only 40 minutes from Exeter to here and the match finished over an hour ago and still nothing. Some people eh?

You seem a tad happy hp......

Bugger the tea I'd have got back into bed and snuggled down for another hour or so. As you say though it could have been worse you could have seen a reversal of the result and that would have been tragic.

I do apologize for my tardiness- having arrived back just after 4pm I thought it churlish to boot Mrs Lyndhurst of the laptop and then I had to cook supper etc. Anyway:-

Points about the policing and Exeter staff are posted in the bar-all positive for a change.

An excellent coach trip (yes with the Chairman!-incidentally, this plus the sale of some beryl cook prints raised £850 for a very worthy charity) saw us arrive at SJP about an hour prior to kick off. V friendly staff and 'good' hotdogs put us in a buoyant mood as did the decent seats in the WTS stand- an excellent view and plenty of leg room. Right, to the football. We battered them. end of report.

Seriously though it was a fully deserved 3 points at a v cold SJP. Exeter were IMHO poor and am not sure Luke had a serious save to make. Argyle made all the play in a stiff wind and simply outplayed the opposition. First goal came from a completely miss hit shot from from BR and RR was 'johnny on the spot' and did well to put it away in front of the big bank. The only other 2 memorable moments in the first half were 1, a clash of heads which resulted in Luke wearing a bandana for the rest of the match and 2, their goal , which tbh was as a result of three defenders not cutting out a good ball across the area.

So Exeter went in at half time probably in the better frame of mind and it was no surprise they came out and tried to press. All their belief disappeared after LA was obviously fouled following a break down the left and RR converted the pen in front of the away end. And then it all kicked off. The fact that the ref didn't even caution, let alone send off their defender for the challenge on LA clearly annoyed some of the players (for me it was a yellow card)-whatever, on 61 mins Lee kicked one of their players- not badly and 9 out of 10 times it would have been a yellow esp as the player wasn't hurt and jumped back to his feet provoking an extended melee. Lots of handbags/pushing/shushing = 1 red for Lee and 4 more yellow cards-not sure the ref had any idea what was or had been going on. So backs to the wall and try and hang on;well not exactly, Exeter had most of the ball but we still looked the better team (hence the chant 'we've only got 10 men') and when RR popped up with 3rd through perseverance it was no surprise. Cox had replaced LA and RR went off injured to be replaced by the excellent Brunty who very nearly added a 4th.

A few nervy moments towards the end but the result was never in doubt- I thought they were poor and we outplayed, outsang and outclassed the opposition from start to finish.

LA had a quiet-ish game but won the penalty, B Reid wasn't at his best but contributed, and Reuben did nothing all match except score 3.......
The defence were immense (except for the goal). MOTM is reluctantly Reuben Reid but it could have gone to anyone.

A most enjoyable game and good entertainment at a pleasant SJP- it was clear that the club had tried to take any 'aggro' out of the fixture and apart from a few mindless morons it worked.

Is that the extent of your excuse for being late lyndhurst? "My wife was on the laptop and I had to cook supper" If one of your ratings gave you that as an excuse they would be peeling spuds for a decade and swabing the heads for longer.

I deliberately didn't listen to the commentary on the radio because I'm a bit superstitious like that. Whenever I listen we lose so I have resisted it lately and go on the beeb site on my computer instead. That is just like paint drying. It looked easy for a long period. The shots on or even off target didn't register for Exeter for ages and ages. It looked like they might go all of the first half without any. Then it went into overtime and I thought that was a long time but didn't know about Luke being mumified. 1 - 1 and I thought here we go again away from home. But back in the lead and going well then oh oh!!!! a red appeared. Again I thought here we go. But again the stats went up on the Argyle side and not Exeter's and lo and behold it was 3. The trouble with the computer stats is nothing is ever explained so had no idea why the red or if the pen was a good shout. No need to worry and a great 3 points. Nice to have some meat on the bones and thanks lyndhurst even if you were slower than the beeb.........all that and top of the tipsters to boot.

Thanks Lyndy for the very good report........don't take any notice of aggro boy sensible trying to speed up your report.....he's all wind.

Hope you gave not606's kind regards to your elite passengers at the front of the coach......one of them would be keen on all our usernames and cross referencing them with ATD pals of is ?.......no luck for him there then.

not sure what you mean Plym- JB and IJN were both at the back of the coach with us-I dont think ATD had any supporter on this bus - rarely visit their site but did this week-seems like they are all a (tiny) bunch of inbred small minded thickos who live in a parallel universe!

Don't be too critical lyndhurst or else they will gang up and come back on here. Anyone from there could have worked out my real name as my son got mentioned in real terms plenty of times even though outing wasn't suposed to be British. Personally I couldn't care less if they know who I am or not. I have no faith that the moderators or people who have access to personal stuff would keep it secret either. Anyway that site is in my past not present thankfully.

Lets not dwell of the content of the white pasty (I believe it was called) lets just savour the result today. We bleddy won for Christ sake.

sorry sensible, but I genuinely have no idea what you or Plym are on about esp wrt who was on the pasty today. I know IJN as a fairly recent friend/acquaintance and JB in passing/through the Armed Services Days and I cant believe that either of those would mean you or your family any harm. If you are talking about someone else then sorry i haven't a clue!

We aren't on about the same thing lyndhurst as I have no idea who plym was referring to either. My remarks were in response to the mention of that other place rather than the coach. I have never traded posts with IJN and have never met JB in any capacity so I certainly didn't mean either of those.

Bet the trip home was a happy one. I remember the journey back from Wembley and that was superb even the walk home from Home Park when dropped off. The streets seemed full of happy people as well then. It must be a long drag if you lose though even if it only takes 40 minutes.

Good report Lyndhurst. Generally agree with all you said, other than, as a neutral, I thought the ref had a good game, IMO called the penalty decision correctly, clumsy tackle but not reckless or malicious, so penalty yes, yellow card no. Also thought he got the red card spot on, Lee came steaming in and I said to my mate "He's straight off" . Also to complete my referees love-in I thought he handled the handbag fracas well too!

Argyle were by far more comfortable on the ball and I loved RR's composure with his third goal. We all see games differently but I was impressed with Talbot, intelligent player, good vision most of the time and managed to keep the ball on the pitch from some tricky situations.

Enjoyed my day out (for those with football nostalgia SJP's transports you back to the sixties...fifties even) Thought their lion mascot looked deceptively nimble would love to watch him hunting Pete down. Well done Plymouth fans....did well.

    Regards to Sensible,

    Milton

Thanks for your observations milton......personally I think we're lucky to have Talbot......recovering from long term injury......here for game time.....of course Sheridan knows him well from his promotion season when Talbot was a regular in his Chesterfield team.

Excellent report Lyndhurst, thankyou. What a result and what a run of form we seem to be hitting again, long may it continue. Full credit to all at the club, particularly Sheridan and the players, a real six pointer coming up next against Bury. A very happy Green in Essex.:emoticon-0137-clapp
