League Cup First Round sponsored by Carabao.

We have a home tie....Tuesday 7-45 kick-off against promoted National League Champions... Leyton Orient who are back in Div 2 after a two year absence.

Ryan Lowe says he will treat this Cup match seriously as he intends to treat all Cup competitions that Argyle play in.....at present Alex Palmer has played in both league games with distinction....so we can expect that Michael Cooper will be selected for this Cup game tomorrow evening, Lowe has already hinted at that.

We also know that if Byron Moore is selected up front... he will be having a new striking partner...because Joel Grant came off on Saturday with a hamstring injury....and was replaced at the time by Dom Telford.

So those are possibly the more obvious changes that will be made....we will see if Lowe leaves it at that...Danny Mayor seems to be playing with an injury since pre-season when he was badly clattered in one game....will Lowe continue playing him or give him some recovery time and maybe choose Jose Baxter for instance...tomorrow evening will reveal all.

Jose Baxter seems to be more in the Joe Edwards role, having come on for him at the 70 minute mark in both games so far. He might get a start as he needs fitness after two substitute appearances. Perhaps 60 minutes with Edwards coming on for him?

The other midfielder who got good pre-season reviews was Conor Grant. Maybe he'll get a game having had only 15 minutes at Crewe,

Isn't it nice NOT to be thinking So and So was rubbish last week, we need to try somebody else!

Wouldn't say no to another striker coming in.....46 league games is a lot of football to be played for what we have at present....Aimson still recovering from last season and we already have Joel Grant side lined after two of the 46 games already....with glass ankled Taylor likely to be out sooner than later and Dom Telford still working on his fitness after being out...we certainly do need more cover and someone who hasn't got a history of injuries on his CV.

    Tonights Team.
Cooper, Josh Grant, Canavan, Sawyer, Riley, Conor Grant, Edwards, Mayor, McFadzean, Telford, Taylor.

    Subs.
Palmer, Wootton, Sarcevic, Baxter, Moore, Lolos, Randell.

So we have a Telford, Taylor strike force and as expected Cooper is the keeper.....Josh Grant will start his loan spell for Argyle in the Carabao Cup with Wootton dropping to the bench....possible chance of Lolos coming on later.

I seems Leyton Orient tried the tactic of sitting back in a packed defence and got punished for it. So far our opposition has tried going toe to toe (lost 0-3), dropping deep and hitting on the break (lost 1-0) and just packing the defence (lost 2-0).

The lack of pressure in midfield perhaps contributed to Conor Grant and Danny Mayor dominating: both got 8 out of 10 with Grant MotM, Telford, Canavan and Sawyer also got 8's, with the rest on 7. Hard to see what Cooper did for a 7 as he hardly seems to have got a touch with the possession stat 70:30 in Argyle's favour for most of the first half! Where will it end?

I still think we'll suffer relatively heavy defeats when we do get beaten because we are pushing so many forward that when we do got down, it may be by 2 or 3 or 4. It doesn't look as that's going to happen very often if we go on like this though.
