Things have moved on since the days of a no 9 being a striker. I have recently been informed that a centre forward is not a striker and not generally the player most forward. I always thought back in the days when the no 9 ( centre forward)was the player expected to score the goals and is therefore a striker.Back in the day a striker was not a position on the field but generally a player anywhere along the fromt line. Can anyone clear up this matter. I apreciate that sometimes a no9 ( centre forward) can drop deeper on accation but generally up front and sometimes on his own and sometimes we play without one, false 9 ?

    Rose by any other name...

    Striker/Centre Forward
    Centre Back/Centre Half
    Midfielder/Centre mid
    Winger/Wideman

    All the same thing

What about inside / outside forwards too :)

That brings me back to my childhood playing subuteo when I'd start with 2 wingers, 2 inside forwards, and a center forward. No wonder my older brother aleays beat me at it.
