Last night's win for you against West Ham probably indicates that you are well on course to emulate Norwich City's achievement of back to back promotions. Are any of you keeping an eye on City's progress in the Premier League?. Do you think it gives a pointer as to how you might fare in the Prem?
I think it's very difficult to say whether Norwich's performance in the Premier League this season will match up with ours when we eventually get there. It'll be two different clubs, in different seasons under different circumstances. The only definative thing I can say about both clubs is that during their time in League 1 and the Championship the focus was/is on winning every game, being top of league and in contention for promotion. The focus is very different in Premier League, and it is/will be to avoid relegation - such is the gulf in class between the divisions. How Adkins will approach the Premiership remains to be seen, one thing is for sure though; his approach wont be the same as it's been for this season and the season before - The Premier League is a totally different ball game all together.
I have enjoyed watching Swansea's progress, More importantly how do you feel having lost a good manager in Cotterill. I know some of your fans didn't like his tactics but he was working hard in what in all honesty can only be described as difficult conditions. So my question to you is likewise. Are you watching Scunthorpe (one of last seasons relegated teams whose manager also moved onto a much better team) a side your club will be emulating this season and do you think you will be able to hold your own in the Division 1?
He may be a good, nice, warm, cuddly, fatherly, friendly, caring, empathetic, sympathetic bloke but he supports a crap team. Now if he came to his senses........ Just a gentle reminder we are about!!!!!!!¬
To be honest Devo.......I think most of us are in a kinda shock as to our league position....it would be nice to emulate Norwich but who knows. It was a good result last night and the guys are playing well. Lambert has added a few good players to his squad at Norwich and I think it a natural curiosity to want to know how they are doing having been promoted so quickly. I don't think they will be a good pointer as we have a different set up to them, not to mention different players. I think we could hold our own but not much more with the players we have got. So it will depend a lot on who goes and comes in the January window to be honest.
I'm not sure Southampton can do it. I don't think they can keep going like a freight train like they have. Their defence is pretty awful and they have the mentality of 'we'll score more than you' which can bite you in the arse. I would love you to come up with us though, the old man is a Saints fan and he hasn't shut up about you this season.
Seventh-best goals against in the Championship, and three 1-0 wins. Our attack is better than our defense, no doubt, but we've been steady enough at the back. Plus, it's really goal differential that matters the most; a goal a game isn't bad anyway (generally good for 5th-8th by the end of the year), but when you're scoring double that it's hardly worth a bit of hand-wringing. Norwich allowed 58 last year, a fair bit higher than our current pace of 50, after all.
Is this the defence that has only conceded 13 goals in 12 games ? (2 more than Leicester from 1 more game played) People keep saying that the wheels will come off, but the bus just keeps on rolling along nicely. Fans that have played us this season have said that we are the best team that they have played consistently and all the match stats back it up. I've have often said that we have things that other clubs in this league don't have, team spirit, continuity, winning momentum, confidence and an awesome home record, money does not always guarantee success...
Why are you so confident of going up? You're not as good as you like to make out. Really don't get these jibes about our defence being bad, it's just jealousy.
We kept a clean sheet against West ham, the 2nd highest scorers in the league, that shows how **** our defence is
I think the two teams I saw last night will finish top two. Leicester will need to endure the lottery of the playoffs - but only if they improve cos on current form they won't make the top six.
Was going to write something like "we've got a +14 goal difference!?" Then I read I would love you to come up with us though ...and laughed BYE BYE SVEN!!!
I'm not going to lie, away from home our defence hasn't been water-tight (though it's certainly not been "awful" either). At home however, Forest are the only side to score against us ib open play. West Ham, Watford and Millwall all went home without a goal, Leeds went home with nothing more than an injury-time penalty and Birmingham went home with a just free-kick (and coincidently, Leeds and Brum were both 3-0 down when they got their consolations).
