    Swansea 1 Man City 0..

..the result edges Swansea closer to Premier League survival, having reached a tally of 36 points that would have seen them retain their top-flight status in 10 of the last 13 seasons.

If we only get 5 more points from our last 10 games , 3 of the bottom 4 teams have to average 2 points a game from there remaining 10 games to catch us . Up to this point , only teams from Manchester have averaged 2 points a game , done deal !! .

    No question imo.

We'd have to bottle it a la Cardiff to get relegated now AND others would have to win most of their games. Mathematically possible but highly unlikely.

We don't need 5 points. We are 14 points above the relegation spots. It would take total capitulation and others to win nearly every game. 3 more at maximum we need and we're home and dry. We will of course get more than that.

We stand to make alot of money by finishing higher up the ladder, i wonder how much bonus the players are going to be on, surely the club could factor in the extra cash towards a big pay day for our boys ?
100-200k each depending on first team appearences ?? if we finish 10th we could afford that and the players can go and buy their Aston martins and ferrari's then, everyones happy ! :)

Though im guessing players on the fringes or injured would miss out, maybe just 100k each if we finish 10th , having said that finishing 10th pays for Gylfi !! argh!!! my head is spinning now! <laugh>

Think I've posted elsewhere that each place is apparently worth £900,000. If that's not worth fighting for I don't know what is.

Home and dry. Taking into account goal difference we are 15 points ahead. To put that into perspective one of the bottom 3 teams needs to average 1.5 points per game for 10 games. Only the current top 6 in the Prem have actually managed a 1.5 point per game average so far.

Now is not the time to talk about those behind us, but to chase the four teams directly in front of us. Only 3 points off Liverpool in 7th. If this Swansea team aims for the stars, they might just land on the moon.
As already noted, every position we go higher makes a Siggy signing more likely without having to worry about whatever budget HJ has already put aside for next season (lets not forget we may have the added attraction of European football next year to encourage new players http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/fair-play.html)

Just a quick congratulatory note on yesterday's result. Very pleased to see you guys take such a huge scalp. Realistically you are as safe as houses. Bear in mind how many points you (and we) are above the dross in the relegation zone and how unlikely they are to get the necessary points even if you lost every other game this season (which you won't). I just can't see three of Wigan/Bolton/blackburn/wolves/QPR getting enough points to cause us any sleepless nights.

Absolutely brilliant for the two unfashionable not big-spending promoted clubs to be in such a great position to stay up! Well done and see you next season!
