Guys- quite a few opposition fans say to me we could turn into the next Portsmouth if we aren't careful. I know we are planning a new stadium/ training ground/academy, but would we be left bankrupt if and when Fernandes leaves or if his other businesses go "tits up"? What do we reckon?

Mittal would then step in, we have 2 people who could keep us going and even if the worst happens, they usually have something written into the will like with the saints owner.
Pompey never had the money, we do.

If they say were in trouble if TF leaves, just tell them Britains richest man is ready to step in.

You could probably ask the same question of the majority of Premier league clubs. Even in our own locality, what if Abramavich walked at Chelsea, of Al Fayed at Fulham?
I get the impression that Fernandez and Bhatia are in it for the long haul, but there are no guarantees!

No doubt that we are a play thing of wealthy men but, whereas Pompey were gambling on footballing success, we're building a business and that's one challenge our owners would never shy away from.

Basically, our owners are spending to build an empire to avoid the gamble that Portsmouth did and protect their substantial investment. That's the difference IMO.

Not going to worry about anything like this unless something goes wrong
Lets just look forward to a good team and new training facilities and stadium in the next few years

Talking of Pompey, I heard today that their exit from administration is in the balance as the proposed takeover is stalling because they still have players on Premier League wages, if the takeover fails they will be liquidated and any successor team that may be introduced will start at Step 7 of the pyramid...

Exactly, their owners were spending beyond their means. Ours wouldn't like relegation too much but could survive it.

We're not one Kanu away from bankruptcy.

Might as well worry ourself that the ground will swallow Loftus Road before the Swansea game.

Exactly, their owners never had the money in the 1st place and they were run terribly. Their FA cup run actually made a loss because of the win bonuses.

Somebody said earlier, that Chelsea in a way is in the same situation if Abramovich leaves them. When we played in the championship other teams fans were always shouthing their mouths about our rich owners and when they were going to leave us. Thats absolutely rubbish and even tango&orange weren't with their hearts in it they did not leave us in the trouble. They did find a wealthy buyer to their club It's always easy to predict the worse to happen to a rival club when you feel a bit jealously towards them because of their sudden prosperity .
