Agree to disagree talc - from watching the defence they just look so much more solid with JOS there than they do without - don't cnecessarily concede less goals I'm just tlaking from gut instinct from what I've seen as a former (albeit pub league) right back and current defensive and GK coach for U8's!! - As we all agree - we need more pace at the back and I think the OP comment is spot on and this is the reason for the huge gap between midfield and attack (and missing Catts of course - I think the central midfielders would have more confidence if Cattermole was there than they do at the minute!) I'm, pretty sure, up to about 3 weeks before christmas, we were in the top 5 defensively in the league - just couldn't score goals! We seem to be scoring more regularly now but, at the same time, defence isn't great!
Fair point mate but, what I'm getting at is not how good he looks during games it's about wins losses and draws and with or without him we are even. So his organizing skills on the pitch are worth zip, I can go onto a pitch and shout and point all day long doesn't mean the team is better with me in it than without. 17 wins 15 draws and 17 losses with JOS playing them theres facts mate, it won't show that he had a good game or a bad one for that matter just win lose or draw. Still think he'll be a squad player next season as long as we get the fast CBs in but, knowing our luck they'll be crocked during pre season and it'll be JOS and Bramble as first choice (using that term very loosely) CBs again.
Technically he submitted a 4-4-2 team sheet, but they played the exact same way Sunderland currently do. Heskey/Fletcher, with Agbon/Sess in behind, pace on the flanks and counter-attacking style... Isn't that so? It's more 4-5-1.
No Gabby played on the last man not in the hole like Sess does, he played off Heskey or Carew running on to through balls. I suspect this is why he has bought graham so Fletcher can play off him.
Our midfield is ****e simples. Vaughan and Larsson are championship quality at best. Vaughan tries but is too lightweight. Larsson is just **** wherever he plays, someone want to explain to me why he didn't stick his foot out to block the cross for their goal? Larsson is slow in action and thought, that's not going to change. I used to give Whitehead **** not the best footballer but at least he put a shift in!
