Jason Roberts for Bristol City... http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...rn-star-interests-bristol-city-and-portsmouth
Every time we are linked with a player we get some dissenters on this site giving various reason why not to sign him. You all have a distinct advantage over me in that I live in Canada and don't receive regualr updates on players. Sometimes I think we jump the gun on certain individuals, but there may be special circumstances surrounding their departure from their current club. However on this guy I see some reasons why we should not sign, which includes his age and the fact that he is having a contract dispute. Am I being fair?
I think a loan deal would suit everyone for those very reasons. I think some people are clouded by the fact he is ex-gas
i wouldnt mind having him as a back up to pitman, but still think there is a lot better than a 33 year old striker looking to settle
nice story needs more dragons tho in all serious no thanks rather bring up a youthful striker and build this club on a good foundation
well, he has dodgy knees and is constantly injured, it says in that short piece that he would prefer to stay up north and anyway and he has 'previous history' with us as well. So all in all. Maybe, if it was a loan deal till the end of the season, as he is a natural goalscorer and may fit our jigsaw. I also believe he is faster and more mobile than Maynard. Kevin phillips was written off in the same way I have him three season ago and look what happened there!
I would welcome him with open arms to be fair. Proven in the premier league when 100% fit. Who cares he is ex gas, would you turn down Lambert or Zamora at this moment in time?
Might be going against the grain here but I think he is a journeyman and would have no commitment to our cause. I wouldn't waste our money on him, invest in Francisco Sandaza,he'll work his boots off for Dl and Doc. http://www.perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk/player.php?param=91
I would welcome him as, like SEB, he is another sort of player in the mould that we need. Bull of a man who will hold the ball up well and clever with it and, WE NEED CLEVER. I will never forget that goal he scored for us against Oldham(?) on the TV all those years ago. The so called "history" was that of a rash teenager who came to us to play games and got dropped the next game after scoring the winning goal for us. Do a bit of reading about him, the charity stuff he does and don't be mislead by something that happened MANY years ago as people change and I don't believe for one minute that his principles would allow him to turn in anything less than a committed performance. Start and maybe end league career with us...?
Did we not suffer enough with Patrick Agyemang last season. Tired, worn out, past their best strikers who live on having played an International game or two, and yet turn up in expensive cars and are paid tens of thousands a week. I hated him for walking through 7 games for us, and I will hate watching Roberts do the same. Lets get some pride here.
Lets get serious here, Roberts = PROVEN premiership quality striker, Agyemang = not sure this bloke actually qualifies for the title "footballer" Comparing Roberts with Agyemang is like comparing a Rolls Royce with a Skoda Get real (and do some reading about the bloke) - there is NO WAY that he would just be here for the cash....
